Chapter 63 You’re Not Part of the Plan
Walking out of City Hall, Wynette and Adriel each held a marriage certificate.
Adriel turned to her. “I’ll keep this marriage private for now. We’ll announce it when you’re ready.”
He understood her concerns,
Wynette still had a lot to deal with. She could focus on her side without worry.
Hearing him, she replied, “It’s fine. Let things happen naturally.”
If it got exposed, she didn’t mind.
They couldn’t stay secretly married forever.
That wouldn’t be fair to Adriel.
Besides, hadn’t he married her as a shield against his parents?
Wynette felt she should at least fulfill her part of the agreement.
Finished
Adriel took out a ring from his pocket. “If we’re putting on a show, we might as well do it right. Once you’re done with your matters, come home with me.”
The ring held a small pink diamond, flanked by two delicate butterflies with wings outstretched.
Tiny white diamonds lined the wings.
Wynette knew he wanted it to look convincing and reached to take it.
“I’ll put it on,” Adriel said, avoiding her hand.
At that, Wynette extended her right hand.
Adriel slipped the ring onto her ring finger. “There.”
Wynette examined it and found that it fit perfectly.
Did he know her ring size?
Just as doubt crept into her mind, Adriel smiled. “Seems my estimates are right on.”
That put her doubts to rest.
Wynette seemed to remember something and looked at him sheepishly. “Sorry, I haven’t prepared your ring yet. I’ll go pick one out.”
She had been thinking that most of her own matters were already handled, so she moved the plan to get their marriage certificate up on the schedule.
But she truly hadn’t thought about the ring.

Chapter 63 You’re Not Part of the Plan
Finished
Adriel pulled out another man’s ring from his pocket. “No need. I brought one myself.”
It was a simple, plain band.
The pattern on it looked like vines to Wynette, though not quite.
She looked at the ring in front of her. From Adriel’s expression, he seemed to expect her to put it on for him.
Her actions moved faster than her thoughts.
Wynette took the ring and slipped it onto Adriel’s left ring finger as he extended his hand.
She didn’t notice that as she used her right hand to put it on him, their rings came close together and fit perfectly.
It was like the butterflies spread their wings, finally finding a place to land upon a branch.
After putting the ring on, Wynette said, “I was going to treat you to dinner tonight as a thank–you after we got the certificate, but I need to go home later. How about another day?”
She was asking for his opinion.
Adriel caught the key point. “Thank me? For beating up Noah last night, or for stepping in and helping you tear things apart with him ahead of time?”
So he knew everything.
As early as when the trending topic blew up, and Joanne told him Wynette wasn’t in a hurry, Adriel had already connected the dots.
But he believed Wynette hadn’t deliberately used him.
After all, she couldn’t have known he would show up at the bar last night, let alone get into a fight with Noah.
Her counterattack at noon only confirmed his guess.
