**When Night Grows Softer Hope Returns To Lead Us by Asa Rowan Finn**
**Chapter 145**
As Wyatt and Steven approached, Liam’s voice cut through the air with a fierce protectiveness. “Don’t look at her,” he practically growled, a warning laced with an underlying urgency. The moment his words reached their ears, both men instinctively lowered their gazes, avoiding any direct contact with Talya. Behind her, she could hear Madison and Emma sharing a quiet laugh, their amusement a stark contrast to the tension that seemed to envelop Liam.
A sleek black Land Rover rolled into the driveway, its engine purring softly as it came to a halt. Talya lifted her gaze, her heart fluttering slightly as she watched Garrett and Kyle emerge from the vehicle, making their way toward their wives with an ease that spoke of familiarity and affection.
Liam paused, his body momentarily tensing. Garrett, after embracing and kissing Emma with a warmth that radiated from him, turned to face them, his arm casually draped around her shoulders. “How are you feeling, Talya?” he inquired, his voice a blend of concern and friendliness.
“Much better. Thank you,” Talya replied, her voice laced with respect, though she couldn’t shake the nervousness he instilled in her. There was something about Garrett that made her heart race, a mix of admiration and anxiety.
Garrett’s gaze flickered to Liam, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. But before he could say anything, Liam interjected with a firm tone. “Not a word. This is your wife’s fault and his wife,” he pointedly gestured toward Madison’s husband, making it clear that teasing was off-limits tonight. Kyle, ever playful, grinned and tugged Madison closer to him, as if to emphasize their bond.
“You deserve every ounce of it,” Garrett said, tightening his hold on Emma, who chuckled softly in agreement.
“That’s what I told him,” Emma chimed in, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Talya turned her gaze toward Liam, a playful smirk forming on her lips. “I don’t think anybody likes you,” she teased, her tone light yet sincere.
“I know,” he grumbled in response, eliciting laughter from the group around them. The camaraderie felt comforting, a reminder that they were all in this together.
“Talya, I don’t think you’ve ever officially met my husband,” Madison said, her voice brightening. “This is Kyle.”
Talya’s eyes widened in realization. “Oh my goodness! You’re the one who helped me on the phone,” she exclaimed, her voice filled with gratitude. “I didn’t make the connection before. Thank you!”
Kyle’s smile widened, genuine warmth radiating from him. “I’m glad it all worked out,” he replied, his tone reassuring.
Once the introductions were out of the way, they piled into the car, heading toward the building where the fighting was set to take place. Talya gazed out the window, curiosity bubbling within her. “How many of you are there?” she asked, her voice tinged with awe.
Liam glanced at her, his expression serious. “We have over four hundred in our pack,” he informed her, a hint of pride in his tone.
