I Ran From My Psycho Step-brother Straight Into The Alpha's Lap novel Chapter 179

**Chapter 179**

He extended his hand toward her, and with a hesitant heart, Talya slowly placed her palm in his. A wave of revulsion surged through her, but she fought against the instinct to retract her hand, forcing herself to remain still. In that fleeting moment, the world around her faded into nothingness. When she finally opened her eyes and steadied her breath, she found herself confined within the cold, damp walls of a holding cell. The vampire, a shadow of menace, strode out of the cell and slammed the iron door shut with a deafening clang that echoed in her ears. Just like that, he vanished into the darkness.

Talya approached the door, her fingers brushing against the cold metal. It was locked, just as she had anticipated. “Liam, can you hear me?” she called out, her voice barely above a whisper, but the silence that followed was deafening. Suddenly, she heard a faint groan emanating from the shadows, and she turned toward the sound. The darkness was thick, but her eyes gradually adjusted, revealing a huddled figure in the adjacent cell. With cautious steps, she made her way closer, her heart racing with uncertainty. “Sage?” she breathed softly into the void.

For a brief moment, there was nothing but silence. Then, a familiar voice broke through the stillness. “Talya?” Sage’s whisper was tinged with both surprise and relief.

Talya sank to her knees at the edge of the cell, her heart pounding. “Are you okay?” she asked, her voice trembling with concern.

The quiet lingered for a heartbeat, then Sage’s voice emerged, fragile and uncertain. “Are you really here?”

“Yes, it’s me. How long have you been trapped in here?” Talya pressed, anxiety creeping into her voice.

“I don’t know,” Sage replied, her tone heavy with despair.

“I don’t know how, but I swear I’m going to get you out of here. I promise,” Talya vowed, determination igniting within her. Yet Sage remained silent, and Talya felt a pang of worry. “It’s going to be alright, Sage. Liam will come for us,” she said, her words infused with an unwavering belief. Standing up, she began to pace her cell, her fingers tracing the rough edges and cold surfaces in search of any weaknesses. Despite her efforts, she found nothing, but the movement helped to distract her from the gnawing fear.

Time dragged on, each second stretching into eternity. Talya lost track of how long she had been there—minutes, hours, or perhaps days—when suddenly, a door creaked open, allowing a sliver of light to pierce the oppressive darkness. She rushed to the bars, her heart racing, eager to see what was unfolding.

Two vampires emerged, dragging someone between them with a cruel ease. They opened a cell and unceremoniously threw the figure inside, the door clanging shut behind them. Just as quickly, they disappeared into the shadows, leaving silence in their wake.

“Hello?” Talya called out, her voice echoing in the stillness.

“Talya?” a voice responded, and her heart plummeted.

“Emma?” she asked, clinging to the hope that she was mistaken.

“It’s me,” Emma replied, her voice laced with anger and frustration.

“No! What happened?” Talya’s voice quivered with urgency.

“I don’t even know,” Emma admitted, her tone mirroring Talya’s own desperation. “Garrett said there was a vampire attack. He vanished with most of the wolves. I-I don’t remember anything after that. I just woke up a few minutes ago. I tried reaching out to Garrett, but it’s like there’s a wall between us.”

“I understand. I tried with Liam too. They’re blocking our connection somehow,” Talya said, feeling the weight of their shared predicament.
