Chapter 265

Lucian genuinely loved Aurora. But I couldn’t see that from what he did for her.

Now, seeing him finally willing to spend time with her, I felt a flicker of hope for Aurora.

He murmured, his lips curving into a smile..

He was eager to see Aurora, hoping she’d appreciate his efforts.

He wanted to hear her soft voice when she called him”Daddy,” to tell her she didn’t have to fear anymore.

Lucian envisioned her teasing him, throwing tantrums, like Willow did. He wouldn’t ignore her again; he’d shower her with affection, spoiling her like a princess.

He’d rented every billboard in Chicago, playing the video on a loop.

Aurora would recognize her own drawings. She’d see his message:”Daddy loves Aurora too!”

He anticipated her reaction, her joy at his declaration.

Even if I told Aurora not to contact him, she couldn’t resist.

He was confident she’d call.

To avoid missed calls, he’d blocked everything, waiting for her call. The video played all day. The entire city knew. Aurora couldn’t have missed

But his phone remained silent. His expression darkened.

Aurora loved him, Lucian knew that; she wouldn’t ignore him.

The only explanation was me. She relied on me, listened to me, loved me.

I wouldn’t let her contact him.

Lucian didn’t blame Aurora. But me… I should have seen his efforts.

This was far beyond what he’d done for Willow.

For Willow’s birthday, he’d bought Disneyland tickets and fireworks. For Aurora, he’d built an entire amusement park, intending to name it after her.

He’d arranged for her favorite fairytale characters to be there, for fireworks, games… everything. Why had I prevented them from seeing each other?

His initial joy had morphed into frustration. He called me.

I was at the infirmary, having just seen the news of Lucian’s billboard campaign, his message to Aurora. A wry smile touched my lips. He’d spared no expense, but I felt nothing but irony. What about before? Aurora was gone, and only then did he remember to be a father?

I answered his call, my expression cold. His angry voice filled my ears.

“Seren, Aurora is your daughter, and mine! Be reasonable! Let go of the past, stop ignoring Aurora’s feelings! You’re preventing her from seeing me!”

He believed Aurora wouldn’t call because she didn’t know about his surprise. Her drawings clearly showed how much she’d wanted to go to the amusement park with him.
