I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 41

He did not care.

He didn't care about the results at all.

So what was he playing at?

Sienna Sterling's expression shifted for a fraction of a second.

She had fallen for his trap.

She thought she was clearly drawing a line, telling him he had no special privileges with her.

But Finn Fletcher clearly did not care about any of that.

"Nurse, since I need to be transferred to internal medicine, shouldn't I be admitted for observation? If I recall correctly, I can still request a specific attending physician," he said.

Penny Sawyer froze, unsure of how to respond. She glanced at Sienna, then at Finn, opening her mouth before snapping it shut.

Sienna felt her entire world collapse.

Had she just dug her own grave?

She set her pen down, her fingers trembling slightly.

She was furious—at Finn, but mostly at herself.

She desperately needed a moment to cool off.

"Mr. Fletcher, your records are complete." Her voice was colder now, so icy that Penny shivered in the corner.

"Wait, there's still the blood test," Finn pointed out.

Sienna nearly passed out from the stress.

Thankfully, it was only the final task.

She took a deep breath, turned around, and began preparing the blood-draw equipment.

The tourniquet, the iodine swabs, the cotton pads, the needle, and the vials.

She set them on the tray one by one, the metal clinking softly against the table.

Every single movement felt unusually agonizing.

Yet, these were all basic, everyday tasks for her.

"Sienna, let me prep that for you," Penny offered, unable to watch her struggle.

"No need," Sienna insisted stubbornly.

The examination room door remained open.

Isaac Holloway stood in the hallway with a file in hand, originally on his way to the inpatient ward for a meeting with the hospital director.

His feet had a mind of their own, bringing him toward her wing, and he paused as he passed the room.

He saw Sienna standing by the examination bed, her back to the door, her spine rigid.

Finn sat on the edge of the bed.

His shirt was still unbuttoned, the collar wide open, revealing the red marks left by the electrode pads on his chest.

"How are things looking?"

It seemed like a throwaway question, but it carried a heavy undercurrent.

Finn looked at Isaac, then at Sienna.

His gaze darted between the two of them.

"Dr. Sterling says there's something wrong with my heart and that I need to be admitted for observation."

Sienna's fingers tightened, a flare of anger shooting up and burning her throat.

She wanted to shoot Finn a lethal glare, but she held herself back.

She absolutely could not lose her composure with Isaac standing right there.

This Finn Fletcher was utterly insufferable! He was the absolute worst!

Isaac looked genuinely surprised, his eyebrows arching slightly.

"Is that so? Let me take a look."

He reached out and picked up the medical report.

He read the neat handwriting.

Premature ventricular contractions. Further evaluation by the cardiology department recommended.

A knowing, enigmatic smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
