On September 20th, Grant returned to The Fletcher Board.
As his wheelchair was pushed to the head of the long table, the room was thick with tension. Aside from the Dayton family, who staunchly backed Finn, the other shareholders looked deeply irritated.
The dust from Finn's recent scandal hadn't settled, and the crushing weight of the Westside project was still looming. The board members were fully locked and loaded, ready to launch a vicious offensive the second the meeting started.
But Grant beat them to the punch.
He gestured for his assistant to slap two documents down in the center of the table.
The first was a divorce decree, finalized months ago.
It marked the official, legal termination of his three-decade marriage to Yolanda Fletcher.
The second was a marriage certificate, dated exactly three days ago.
The bride's name: Maeve Thorne.
Grant leaned back in his wheelchair, his eyes sweeping across the sprawling conference table.
"Well, old friends? Aren't you going to congratulate me on my nuptials?"
The shareholders, whose faces had been pinched with fury just seconds before, sat completely dumbfounded.
A senior executive was the first to recover.
"Congratulations, Grant. A double blessing."
The rest quickly followed suit, scrambling to offer a chorus of hollow, perfectly polished congratulations.
Grant soaked up the flattery, tapping a finger idly against his armrest as his smile slowly evaporated.
"Since the pleasantries are out of the way, let me make one thing crystal clear. Finn was born to my legally wedded wife. He is my legitimate son, and he is the sole, undisputed heir to the Fletcher Corporation. If I hear a single whisper questioning his lineage again, I will deal with you personally."
And just like that, the rumors branding the CEO a bastard were decisively crushed.
Following the meeting, the paralyzed approval process for the Westside project was instantly unblocked, pushing forward at a rapid pace.
Sitting in his office, Finn stared down at the progress report Terrence had just delivered, sitting in silence for a long moment before flipping the folder shut.
He looked out the floor-to-ceiling windows just in time to watch a jet trace a line across the sky.
His chest tightened painfully.
He had occupied the CEO's chair for nearly six months, but honestly, he still felt completely out of his element.
He missed the absolute freedom and flawless control he had in the cockpit.
The only reason he had clawed his way into this vicious corporate warfare, fighting desperately for this seat, was for Sienna.
