I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 220

“You’ve provoked my mother and bullied me. I bet your family was so embarrassed when she didn’t show up for your father’s birthday yesterday. Do you regret it now?”

My mother-in-law cut in impatiently. “Why are you even bothering to ask her that? Her father has been calling nonstop for the past two days to apologize. As if she’d dare not regret it.”

She turned her cold gaze on me.

“Zephyra, I really underestimated you. When you first married my son, you were the perfect little housewife, cooking his meals and staying out of trouble. I actually thought you had some genuine feelings for Steven. But it hasn’t even been a year, and you’re already showing your true colors. Not only have you become a completely different person, constantly antagonizing my son, but you’re also ruining his career!”

“He was supposed to fly out of the country yesterday to sign a multi-billion-dollar deal, but he postponed it all for you, just to attend your father’s pathetic little birthday party!”

“And that other time, when you went abroad with him, not only did he lose the deal, but he also got the other party thrown in jail! Do you have any idea how many international business connections he lost because of that? What have you done to him to make him so bewitched? He has never been this reckless in his entire life!”

I waited for the throbbing in my wrist to subside before sitting up.

I suppressed the rage boiling inside me. If I sent them to the hospital, Steven would probably get angry and refuse to finalize the divorce.

“Why are you asking me these questions instead of Steven?”

The insult I was about to hurl back died on my lips. My face was a mask of shock. “What did you say?”

Of course, I didn’t believe Steven was in love with Somania. I was just stunned that he had been searching for me for so long.

Why? The question burned in my mind.

“That explains why Steven has been acting so strange lately. Zephyra is working as a designer now!” my mother-in-law exclaimed, a look of dawning horror on her face. She glared at me. “Tell me, have you been deliberately acting as a stand-in for this ‘dream girl’ to seduce my son and make him act like a fool? Do you have any idea how angry the shareholders are with him because of all this?”
