I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 221

“I’m warning you, Steven is the designated heir of the Lancaster family. No one is allowed to ruin his future, especially not a nobody like you! Thomas, tie her up and take her to the company. Make her apologize to the board members so they’ll drop their complaints against Steven!”

Thomas pouted and muttered, “They wouldn’t dare go after him directly. All they can do is come here and tattle.”

My mother-in-law glared at him. “What are you mumbling about? Get a move on!”

As Thomas approached me, I swung my handbag at him.

“Enough! You’re too scared to confront Steven, so you come after me instead. You’d drag an innocent person into your mess to be a scapegoat. You’re all pathetic!”

They were only bullying me because I had no power or money.

Suddenly, a sharp smack echoed in the room, and my cheek stung. Thomas had slapped me.

I froze. My mother-in-law stared, stunned.

Only Thomas was still yelling. “You just had to make me do this the hard way.”

A cord in my mind snapped. The rage I had been suppressing erupted like a volcano. As Thomas reached for me again, I shot up and kicked him squarely between the legs.

He froze, one hand clutching his groin, the other pointing at me, his face contorted in agony. “You…”

I kicked him again, twice more for good measure. He crumpled to the floor, unable to move.

My mother-in-law shrieked, “Zephyra, you little bitch! How dare you hit my son!”

She ran to Thomas’s side. I marched straight into the kitchen, grabbed a meat cleaver, and charged back out.

“Thomas, you dared to hit me? I’m going to chop you to pieces today!”

I was already planning on a divorce. But now, not only had they dragged me here and berated me for no reason, delaying my plans, but they had also assaulted me.

That was the last straw.

I gritted my teeth, a vicious smile spreading across my face. “Thomas, you’re not going to live to see tomorrow!”

The commotion was deafening, but no one came to intervene. My mother-in-law must have dismissed the servants before she started her lecture.

She, who had lived a life of luxury, was no match for me. When the cold steel of the blade pressed against her neck, she screamed and fell to the floor.

I advanced on Thomas with the cleaver. He dropped to his knees, his face a mask of pure terror.

“I was wrong! I shouldn’t have said those things, and I shouldn’t have hit you! Please, forgive me! I’ll—I’ll make Steven treat you right! I’ll make him stop seeing that Somania woman and be a good husband to you, okay?”
