I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 392

Just as I was pushing the door open, a nurse was coming in to check on Steven.

The next second, the nurse's voice shot up several octaves. "What are you doing? Don't pull out your IV! You can't even stand! Lie back down! Doctor! Doctor, that patient with the unknown illness is awake..."

Once I was outside the hospital, I finally remembered to check my phone. I had been so consumed with the thought of Steven's reincarnation that it had taken over everything.

Now that I was sure he didn't believe it and his memories were too fragmented to be a real threat, I felt a sense of relief.

Besides, if Steven truly believed in reincarnation, he would probably be pursuing Verna with even more urgency so they could get married sooner.

I unlocked my phone and was shocked to see over fifty missed calls from Ryan and Leonard, along with a flood of voice messages. I randomly played one.

"Zephyra, where did that bastard take you? I beat up his lackey and the restaurant owner is holding me here. They called the cops, so I might not be able to come get you. If you get away, call Leonard. He'll beat that guy to a pulp!"

I frowned. That kid actually got into a fight. Uncle Julian had said Ryan just looked like a delinquent but was actually well-behaved.

I quickly played the last voice message he sent. His voice was thick with anger.

"Zephyra, I see the police. I told Leonard everything. Don't be scared. Even if I get locked up, he'll definitely fly over from Baxo to rescue you from that hell. If Steven dares to touch you, he's dead!"

I immediately called Ryan, but his phone was off. Then I quickly dialed Leonard. It rang once before he picked up.

Leonard's calm voice came through the line. "Where are you? Ryan said Steven kidnapped you. Is it safe to talk?"

After hanging up, I quickly got a call from Ryan. He soon arrived to pick me up, a whole group of people with him. Seeing that I was truly unharmed, his anger subsided, and he started complaining.

"Do you know what Steven's lackey said? He said he didn't call the police and insisted Steven would never hurt you, trying to stop me from rescuing you. Of course I didn't buy it, so I punched him right in the face. That's when I got grabbed."

My eyes flickered. So Gordon really hadn't called the police. Steven had been telling the truth.

"How is Gordon now? You didn't hurt him too badly, did you?"

Ryan snorted. "It's not serious. The restaurant staff pulled me away. I wasn't trying to beat him up, but he wouldn't get out of my way. If he hadn't, maybe Steven wouldn't have even gotten a chance to take you. It’s a good thing that bastard didn't do anything to you, or I'd have beaten him to a pulp."

I lifted his chin. The red mark from the slap had faded, but the faint outline of fingers was still visible.
