I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 404

The doctor came in quickly. Mr. Lancaster Sr. had already calmed down considerably, and after a brief check-up confirmed he was fine, he got up to leave.

Before he left, he shot Steven a look of utter disappointment. "Don't let me see you bullying the Lopez boy. And you're not welcome at my birthday celebration this year. Stay here and reflect on what you've done wrong."

Steven's lips were pressed into a tight line, but he said nothing.

I helped Mr. Lancaster Sr. out of the room, not once looking back at Steven.

Gordon hurried to see Mr. Lancaster Sr. off.

Ryan, however, lagged a couple of steps behind me. He deliberately walked up to Steven's bed, looking down at him with a mocking sneer.

"Tsk, tsk. A two-timing man is like a rotten cucumber—not only useless but also disgusting. A man like you doesn't deserve my sister. We're going home tomorrow. Don't you dare bother her again, or else—I'll beat you up again!"

Steven's handsome face was expressionless. He glanced at Ryan, his lips curling into a barely perceptible arc.

"If I'm not good enough for Zephyra, then no one is. You want to find her a new husband? At least find someone decent. Parading around some disabled guy from the wrong side of the tracks in front of me just makes your sister look stupid and blind."

Ryan's youthful face stiffened, and he glared at him before sneering back.

"My family is rich, we don't care about social status. As long as Horace loves Zephyra, that's enough. Besides, he's just as good-looking as you—no, he's way better looking. You might be handsome, but your heart makes you ugly. And he can sing! If it weren't for his accident, he would've been a huge star, a top artist in his field. He's no less impressive than you!"

Steven scoffed. "Hah."

Just one word, dripping with disdain and arrogance. It said nothing, yet it refuted everything, perfectly showcasing his innate pride and noble bearing.

"Holy crap, your leg is fine? You were faking your injury? You manipulative bastard, were you trying to blackmail me?!"

"Who do you think you are? You're not worth the effort it would take to blackmail," Steven said, shoving his hand away. He walked over to the sofa, grabbed some painkillers, and swallowed them. "I'm in a bad mood. Get lost before I decide to deal with you right now."

Ryan glared at Steven's impassive face, grinding his teeth.

"So you weren't really hurt last night. It was all an act. And this morning, you put on another show, pretending to be seriously injured, just so you could lure Zephyra here and threaten her. You were setting a trap for me!"

"I bet if I hadn't agreed to your terms, you would have had me thrown in jail. Either I do what you want, or you get rid of someone who annoys you. Either way, you win."

"If it weren't for the unexpected twist of me being her cousin instead of her lover, and Mr. Lancaster Sr. showing up, who knows what you would have schemed against me and Zephyra! Steven, how can you be so manipulative and twisted?!"
