I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 504

Right before my vision went completely black, I thought I saw a figure swimming swiftly towards me, glowing as if they were covered in light bulbs.

They grabbed me, wrapped an arm around my waist, and then their lips pressed against mine, breathing air into my lungs. After that, I felt nothing more and lost consciousness completely...

When I opened my eyes again, I was greeted by white walls and the sharp smell of antiseptic.

I was in a hospital.

The constant sound of a video game filled my ears. I turned my head and saw the devil-may-care Myron, whom I hadn't seen in a long time, sitting by my bed with his legs crossed, furiously tapping away at his game.

I was stunned.

He was the very last person I expected to see.

After Steven's car accident, Myron had begged me to see him, to take care of him, but I refused. We hadn't spoken since, and I thought... I thought Myron would never talk to me again.

As if sensing my gaze, he looked up. A smile instantly spread across his devilishly handsome face, and he put down his phone.

"You're awake. How are you feeling? Anything hurt?"

I shook my head. "I feel fine. What are you doing here?"

Myron raised an eyebrow, gesturing with his handsome chin towards the next room.

"Because of Steven, of course. His unforgettable ex-wife got kidnapped, so he called me for help. My grandfather's family is from Sonha and they're very influential. Fishing someone out of the sea is no big deal for them."

"And some of my employees were in Sonha, and I happen to enjoy a bit of drama. Then this whole mess happened, so I came to be Steven's backup."

"Oh, so you're the one who came to rescue me," I said, narrowing my eyes as I recalled the voice I heard before I fell into the water. "How's Horace?"

Myron's expression darkened. He picked up his phone and went back to his game. "What could be wrong with him? He's fine."

I thought Horace had jumped in to save me. Did he not have a traumatic reaction? In any case, I was glad he was okay.

My brow furrowed again as I decided to settle the score with Myron.

"He risked his life to save Verna. Why should I ask about him? And even if I were to take a step back and consider it, why should I? We were over a long time ago."

"I was kidnapped this time because of a disaster caused by his business dealings. I'm the one who suffered the most, and now I'm supposed to care if he's dead or alive? Aren't you asking a bit much?"

Myron dropped his playful demeanor and looked at me seriously.

"That was someone else's fault. What does it have to do with Steven?"

"Zephyra, you're so good at judging right and wrong when it comes to other people. But if it involves Steven, or if he's even remotely connected, it's always his fault. Is that fair to him?"

His words sent a chill through me. I was about to retort when Myron stood up.

"Steven almost died at the bottom of the sea trying to save you. I'm the one who pulled him out. He broke a leg and is lying in the next room on oxygen right now. Since you like to keep a clean slate, how do you plan on repaying the debt of him risking his life for you?"

"Steven risked his life for me?" I didn't believe it for a second and scoffed. "A man wouldn't risk his life for two different women. Besides, he was saving Verna at the time, he..."

Before I could finish, Myron held his phone out in front of me, and a video clip appeared on the screen.
