I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 570

Ever since I learned Verna was also reborn, I'd sensed that she and Steven were hiding a lot of secrets.

Then again, they were a couple who had found happiness after hardship in their past life. It was normal for them to have secrets.

I washed my hands and offered a seductive smile. "Remember how gentle you were when we first met? You were like an angel. But look at you now. All hostility, that two-faced act, that rage... you've lost all your charm. If Jacob saw you now, he'd probably regret ever liking you."

Verna's face turned ashen. She bit her lip so hard I was surprised it didn't bleed, trying desperately to keep her composure.

"That's because you stole what was mine, and someone is going to great lengths to protect you! Your life is a cakewalk, so of course you can be gentle. But you shouldn't—you couldn't possibly—be this lucky!"

I pulled out a few paper towels to dry my hands, saying nonchalantly, "There you go again. Every time you see me, you spout this strange nonsense. If you have something to say, just say it. I'm not particularly interested in your theories about heroines and villainesses, but for your sake, I'll listen."

Verna sneered. "I can't tell you. But I'm warning you, don't you dare team up with Horace to hurt Mr. Lancaster!"

My "breakup" with Horace was public knowledge.

Verna must have known about it. So why would she accuse me of working with him against Steven?

My expression turned cold, and I turned to face her.

"You're a strange one. Don't you like Steven? Right now, he likes me. If I don't hurt him, how will he ever give up on me? How will you ever get your chance to move in?"

Verna's eyes reddened with fury. "It's different! If he didn't like you, then feel free to plot against him however you want. It's your destiny with Horace, after all. We're fated to be enemies, forever irreconcilable. But now that he likes you, you can't do this. You'll really hurt him, and I won't allow it!"

"No! There can't be two heroines in one book, and you can't become the heroine! The script cannot be changed! Zephyra, you'll get a lot of people killed!"

I laughed. I was so speechless that I actually laughed.

Verna, a top student, goes abroad, gets harassed, and comes back a delusional maniac. It was unbelievable.

And according to her script, she wouldn't let me fight to be the heroine and live, nor would she let me be the villain and destroy Steven. What did she want? For me to be some background character bullied by the two of them? Was that what would please her most?

"If you're sick, go see a doctor. But stay out of my way. Otherwise, I'll make you regret it a thousand times over!"
