On the other end of the line, his assistant stammered out, “M-Mr. Jenson, Ms. Summer bought her ticket using a pseudonyChapter 5

“Goodbye, ex-husband of mine.”

With further ado, I ended the call and turned off my phone. As I listened to the rumbling, of the plane engines, a sense of peace and freedom nally engulfed me.

Meanwhile, at Talia’s house, Caleb gripped his phone tightly, his expression somewhat

dumbfounded. He sounded like he was holding back his raging emotions as he rasped, “Where did she go?”

Talia crossed her arms before her chest and sneered, “Oh, so you finally remembered her, huh? She’s gone.”

“…Gone? What do you mean? Where did she go?”

Talia simply shrugged in response, a sly smile curving on her lips. “Do you seriously think I’d tell you?”

A frosty look instantly filled Caleb’s eyes. “Talia Winston, I don’t have time to play games with you.”

“Oooh, is that anxiety I hear, Mr. Jenson?” Rolling her eyes, Talia turned and headed straight for the front door. With a swift tug, she pulled it open. “Leave. You’re not welcome here.”

However, Caleb remained rooted to the spot with a grim expression. “We agreed to remarry today. She can’t just disappear like that.”

“Remarry?” Talia had to cover her mouth as an exaggerated peal of laughter burst from her lips. “Mr. Jenson, just what do you take a marriage certificate for? A supermarket loyalty card that you can redeem something with after accumulating seven stamps?”

Caleb stiffened as though Talia had hit the mark on something even he didn’t dare admit to. Nonetheless, he was quick to regain his composure. He uttered coldly, “You’d better tell me where she is right now.”

“She even blocked your number-don’t tell me you still don’t understand what that means?” Jutting her chin forward, she added mockingly, “Caleb, Melissa isn’t coming back.”

At last, Caleb couldn’t hold himself back anymore. He slammed a hand down on the armrest of Talia’s couch, seething, “There’s no way she’d disappear just like that! You have no right to interfere in our matters!”

“Tsk, I have no right to interfere?” Letting out a scoff, Talia took out a stack of documents from a drawer and tossed them at him. “Then why don’t you take a good look at these and tell me whether you still have the right to bother her”

Caleb looked down at the documents, only for his breathing to stutter to a halt.

My proof of resignation, an account closure statement, and…

A one-way ticket to someplace that had been redacted.

“Do you

understand now?” Talia’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “Caleb Jenson, she’s thoroughly given up on you.”

Caleb clutched the papers with so much force that his fingers had turned white. When he spoke, his words sounded as though they were being squeezed out through gritted teeth.

“She. Can’t. Leave.”

“You don’t deserve her staying.” Then, Talia shoved him, forcefully ejecting him from her home. “Now, get the hell out!”

The plane had already taken off by the time Caleb arrived at the airport in a mad rush. He stormed through the gate but was stopped by an airport staff member.

“Sir, you can’t go in there!”
