Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse novel Chapter 5380

Chapter 5380: Existence I

There is the wonder known The Oldest Paradox of Existence, and it has four parts.

Paradox. Chaos. Existence. And THE First Tongue. These four are the structural backbone of an Observable Existence, the load-bearing concepts that everything else is laid across, and by extension they flow through THE First Cause and the Prime Causes that make up any Observable Existence at all.

They are not powers, exactly, the way an Ego is a power or an authority is a power. They are closer to the framing on which powers hang. Take any domain in existence, reach down past its life and its Causes and its laws to the thing underneath the thing, and you will find these four holding it up.

Most beings who study them believe they understand them completely. There is the concept of contradiction held whole, and there is the concept of the formless origin, and there is the concept of the brute fact of being, and there is the concept of the ordering word, and once a being has those four definitions filed neatly away they tend to believe the matter closed.

They would be wrong. Anything that is foundational and structural has a purpose beyond what most beings believe of it, precisely because it is foundational, because the things you build on are the things you stop looking at.

Consider the four as a problem rather than as definitions.

As a...Four Body Problem.

Four bodies, each exerting its pull on the other three, none of them able to resolve into a stable arrangement, because the moment any two of them settle, the other two drag the settlement apart.

Paradox will not let Existence simply be, because Paradox insists on the contradiction inside every being. Chaos will not let THE First Tongue simply order, because Chaos is the formlessness that ordering fights against. Each pulls the others, endlessly, in an arrangement that never comes to rest.

This is a four body problem, and a four body problem has no clean closed solution. You cannot write the equation that places all four in eternal stable orbit, because no such equation exists. The bodies will tumble!

They will swing close and fling apart and pull each other into configurations no one predicted, forever, never repeating, never settling.

And the final solution to a thing that cannot be solved is disruption. Total disruption, the four concepts colliding and scattering and refusing every stable form, and out of that ceaseless refusal to resolve comes something a stable arrangement could never produce. Boundless potential!

The churning unresolved interaction of the four, going on without rest, is exactly the condition from which THE First Cause eventually rises, born not from order but from the rich endless instability of four foundational things that will not sit still. Existence does not begin from peace. It begins from a problem with no answer, working itself out forever. π™§π™šπ™šπ”€π’†π“«π“·π™€π“Ώπ’†π™‘.𝒄𝙀𝓢

Many Civilizations bloomed from these four. Others claimed them, took one or more of the four for their own Civilizations and built upon what they took.

And then there were beings like THE Genesis Monarch, whose Mana could take the form of any Civilization at all, who held Existence and Chaos and Paradox and THE First Tongue as merely four components among an endless collection of actualized Civilizations within his Pillar of Infinity, a collection that grew hourly, that had no ceiling, that treated the foundational four as ordinary bricks in a structure beyond counting.

But not everyone climbed that way. Apart from the Monarch and his endless breadth, there were beings who went the opposite direction entirely, who took a single path and walked it completely, refusing every other road, pouring the whole of themselves into one of the four until it was not a component of them but the entirety of them.

Such beings...could also go unfathomably far.

In THE Source Lands, there was a region the Source Lifeforms called THE Effluvium Sanctum, and it was a place that killed almost everything that entered it.
