And then there is the other prey, the one who is not me, who carries another Hieroglyph Runestone just as I do, which means there is someone else in this Cluster capable of holding a Runestone inside their existence without it tearing them apart. Someone who might be able to handle IT. I am terribly curious about that one, too.|

She was talking a whole lot, and Noah let her, because every word she spilled was more information for him!

He turned his gaze toward one direction of the Cluster, toward the lifeform who held the Mantle of THE USURPER, and his eye sharpened with recognition as he could see a glimmer of the Dream and identity of the lifeform within.

Adrastia. He remembered this existence he had crossed paths with before, and it was exactly as strange as Calliope had said. It carried the power of THE Sealed One, and yet it was not the Sealed One, a mixture of itself and the thing that had tried to claim it. Had it been meant to become a Vessel, and instead found the capability to RESIST, to swallow half of what came to swallow it? A being that had been targeted for assimilation and had assimilated its assimilator halfway back?

Was that the murky one Calliope spoke of? A Vessel that had, in some measure, refused?

Noah turned his gaze the other way, across the whole span of the Cluster, to the region of dead cities where his friend stood.

THE Creature.

As grand as this being had always been, Noah understood now that THE Creature too held the capability to hold IT. He carried a Shard, a Hieroglyph Runestone woven inside him. And he was in a unique state, after fusing with the statue, a state Noah had never seen an existence occupy. He gazed upon his friend fully, and the weavings answered!

Undefined. Not a number too high to read, not a veil of question marks, but Undefined, a thing the weavings of existence could not resolve because THE Creature was, at this instant, standing in two times at once!

His Provenance was being born and had already been born. He was building his foundation and had finished building it in a future that had not yet arrived. The fusion with the statue had wrapped a loop of time around his titanic frame, and inside that loop the ordinary rules of before-and-after did not hold!

What a state! What a monstrous, paradoxical state!
