Jealousy Alpha's Regret novel Chapter 110

Noah,Catherine called sweetly, setting down the fruit. You and Iris have known each other since high school, haven’t you? You’ve been part of our wolf pack family for so long.

I mentally rolled my eyes. She’s laying it on thick with the emotional manipulation,I thought. Trying to create some fake bond between

us.

Noah nodded, reaching for his wine glass. Yes, Iris and I go way back. We’ve always been good friends.

My heart jumped as I watched him about to drink from the glass. I hadn’t considered they might have drugged his drink too.

Noah,I said quickly, placing my hand on his arm. Didn’t you drive here? It’s getting late, maybe you shouldn’t drink any more.

He looked at me in surprise. Oh, I’m fine. I brought one of the pack

drivers tonight.

I pushed Robert’s untouched water glass toward him. Still, you should stay hydrated. Alcohol dehydrates werewolves faster than

humans.

Chapter 110

Noah smiled at my apparent concern and took the water instead. I

caught Catherine’s fleeting frown and Kim’s annoyed glare. I kept my

face neutral, pretending not to notice.

About fifteen minutes into our conversation, I decided it was time. I

placed a hand on my forehead and let out a soft groan.

Time to put on a show,I thought. Let me channel every bad actress

I’ve ever seen and make this convincing.

I noticed Kim watching me like a hawk, her eyes never leaving my

face. Her eagerness was almost palpable.

Iris?Kim’s voice was unnaturally loud. Are you okay?

Everyone turned to look at me. I blinked slowly, making my

movements sluggish.

II don’t know,I mumbled. I feelstrange.

Catherine and Robert exchanged glances. Iris, what’s wrong?Catherine asked, her voice dripping with fake concern.

Kim jumped up immediately. I’ll take you upstairs to lie down,

sister!Her enthusiasm was almost comical.

Chapter 110

As Kim helped me stand, I leaned heavily against her, making sure to put most of my weight on her smaller frame. I stumbled deliberately on the first step of the staircase, nearly sending us both tumbling.

She’s so eager to get me upstairs,I thought, fighting a smile. Let’s

make this as difficult as possible.

Each step up the stairs became a challenge as I pretended to lose coordination. I noticed Kim’s breathing becoming labored, not just from exertion but from something else. Her face was flushed, and she seemed to be fighting to maintain her composure.

Looks like the wolf’s bane is starting to affect her,I realized with grim satisfaction. It works fast.

As we neared the top of the stairs, Kim suddenly swayed, her grip on me loosening. She caught herself against the wall, blinking rapidly.

What’shappening?she whispered, more to herself than to me.

I continued my act, slurring my words. Are you okay, Kim? You don’t

look so good.

Kim shook her head as if trying to clear it. I’m fine, she snapped, but her voice lacked conviction. She tugged me forward with renewed determination, though her steps were becoming unsteady.
