Chapter 111
Iris’s POV
I watched the door close behind Kim, listening to her final threat
echo in my ears.
“Past tonight you’ll be finished completely. Better make your peace
with that, you poor abandoned wolf.”
The second the lock clicked, my eyes snapped open. I sat up on the
bed, fully alert and clear–headed.
“Always underestimating me,” I muttered, scanning the dimly lit guest room. “Catherine raised a daughter just as stupid as she is.”
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, my mind racing. Catherine’s plan was falling into place exactly as I’d expected – drug me, send up Noah who would also be drugged, and let nature take its course. The perfect scandal to destroy what little reputation I had left in the werewolf community.
“God, they’re so predictable it’s almost boring.”
I reached for my small handbag, digging through it for the antidote

I’d prepared after Rachel’s warning call. My fingers closed around the
small vial of herbs.
“Thank goodness I prepared for this,” I whispered, measuring the powdered mixture into a small cup I found on the nightstand. “Catherine may be vindictive, but she’s not creative. Always the same
wolf’s bane formula.”
As I worked, I strained to hear the voices from downstairs through the room’s ventilation system. The murmur was indistinct but growing more animated. I caught Noah’s voice, slurring slightly, his
normally calm tone becoming agitated.
“They’ve drugged him already,” I realized, my stomach tightening. “They’re moving faster than I thought.”
I’d barely finished mixing the antidote with water when I heard footsteps approaching the door. My heart jumped into my throat as I quickly positioned myself on the bed, making sure I could see
whoever entered first.
The door handle turned, and I watched Noah stumble in, gripping the doorframe for support. His normally neat appearance was disheveled – hair mussed, shirt partially untucked, and his eyes… his eyes were dilated, almost glowing in the dim light. The wolf’s bane was definitely working on him.

He froze when he saw me on the bed, confusion washing over his features. “Iris? What… why am I here?” His words came out thick, like
his tongue was too heavy.
I stayed perfectly still, watching him carefully. “They got to you too,
huh?”
Noah’s gaze traveled over me in a way it never had before – hungry, almost predatory. The drug was stripping away his usual restraint. I felt a twinge of sympathy; Noah had always been respectful, never crossing boundaries despite his obvious feelings for me.
“You’ve been drugged, Noah,” I said directly, maintaining eye contact.
His brow furrowed as he processed my words. For a moment, his eyes cleared slightly, and I saw horror dawn on his face. Without a word, he spun around and stumbled into the adjoining bathroom. Seconds. later, I heard the shower running – ice cold from the sound of it.
“He’s trying to shock himself back to clarity,” I thought, oddly touched. “Even drugged, he’s fighting it.”
The minutes stretched as water ran in the bathroom. I listened to Noah’s labored breathing, occasionally punctuated by what sounded like him slapping his own face. I found myself wondering about paths not taken. Noah had always been there, steady and caring. If

Sebastien had never entered my life…
“Stop it,” I scolded myself. “That’s not relevant now. Focus on getting
through tonight.”
When Noah finally emerged, he looked worse. His clothes were
soaked, water dripping from his hair, but his eyes were even more unfocused. The cold shower hadn’t helped; it might have even
