Chapter 114
I deliberately let out a cold laugh, watching Iris freeze at the sound.
“Looks like I came just in time,” I said, leaning against the doorframe
with forced casualness.
Iris turned to face me, and I was surprised to see no panic in her eyes.
If anything, she looked… prepared. The realization hit me – she’d
known what Catherine was planning. This wasn’t the face of someone
caught in a trap; this was someone who had set a counter–trap.
“Divorce barely finalized and already moving on to the next one?” I
asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm. The words tasted bitter in my
mouth.
I watched Noah shift uncomfortably in Iris’s arms, a low moan
escaping his lips. The sound sent a flash of something hot and
unpleasant through my chest. Jealousy? Impossible. I didn’t get
jealous, especially not over a woman I’d agreed to divorce.
Iris didn’t respond to my taunt. Instead, she calmly finished helping
Noah drink whatever was in the cup, then carefully laid him back on
the bed. Her composure irritated me more than any defensive
response would have.

Chapter 114
A crash echoed from downstairs, followed by raised voices. Catherine
must have realized her plan was falling apart. I listened for a
moment, assessing the situation. If Kim had been drugged somehow –
which seemed likely from her slurred speech earlier and Noah was
out of commission, that left Catherine and possibly Thomas to deal
with.
“We need to leave,” I decided, evaluating the fastest exit route.
I looked at Iris, who was now standing, smoothing down her clothes
with an air of someone completing a task. She showed no surprise at
my presence, no confusion about my intentions. It was as if she’d
expected me to show up.
“Walk,” I commanded, not bothering with explanations or
pleasantries.
To my mild surprise, Iris didn’t argue. She moved toward the door
with quiet efficiency, passing close enough that I caught her scent
again. There was something different about it, something I couldn’t
quite place. My wolf stirred uneasily.
I led the way down the stairs, keeping Iris behind me. The voices from
below grew clearer – Catherine and Kim, arguing in hushed, panicked
tones.

Chapter 114
“She must have switched the glasses… how did she know?”
“I don’t know, but we have to fix this before-”
These people would never stop coming after her, I realized. Not as
long as they saw her as a tool to secure their status.
We reached the bottom of the staircase, and Catherine’s head
snapped up, her face paling when she saw me. Kim was slumped in a
chair, looking distinctly unwell. Thomas stood nearby, confusion
evident on his face.
I let my gaze sweep over each of them, enjoying the way they shrank
back. Even in human form, my Alpha presence filled the room. I felt
my lips curl into a cold smile that contained no warmth or humor.
“The Stone family’s impressive tactics on display tonight,” I said, my
voice cutting through the silence. “Drugging your own daughter and a
potential ally? The Council would be fascinated to hear about this.”
Catherine stepped forward, her face contorted in a desperate attempt
to salvage the situation. “Sebastien, this is all a misunder-”
“Don’t waste my time,” I cut her off, not bothering to hide my disgust.
