Chapter 115
Catherine’s POV
I stood frozen in my own living room, watching that arrogant bastard
Sebastien Grey lead Irus out the front door. My nails dug into my
palms as rage and shock coursed through my body.
“That little bitch,” I hissed through clenched teeth. “How the hell did
she manage to contact Sebastien? And why would he even come?”
My mind replayed his cold, mocking expression as he’d threatened us
moments ago. The way he’d looked at me–like I was something
disgusting stuck to the bottom of his designer shoes. My stomach
churned with humiliation and fury.
His words about our family’s impressive tactics–drugging a potential
ally and our own family–and how the Council would be fascinated to
hear about it, echoed in my head like hammer blows
“Goddammit!” I muttered, running shaky fingers through my hair. My
carefully constructed plan had just gone up in flames.
A low moan from the living room caught my attention. I turned to see
Kim slumped in a chair, her face flushed and eyes unfocused. She

swayed slightly, her movements uncoordinated. Wait a minute… why
was she acting like this?
“Kim?” I approached her carefully. Her pupils were dilated, and she
was breathing heavily. My brain worked frantically to piece together
what had happened. “You’re showing the same symptoms as Noah.
How is that possible?”
Then it hit me like a physical blow. Iris must have switched the
glasses! That clever, devious little-
I stopped myself mid–thought as a new idea took shape. If Noah was
upstairs under the influence of the wolf’s bane and Kim was down
here in the same condition…
“Thomas,” I said, turning to Thomas who stood nearby looking pale
and shaken. “We still have a chance to salvage something here.”
“What are you talking about?” he asked, his voice sharp with stress.
“Didn’t you see what just happened? Sebastien Grey just threatened
to destroy what little standing we have left with the Council!”
I lowered my voice, stepping closer to him. “Noah’s still upstairs. The wolf’s bane is still in his system.”
Thomas’s eyes widened as he caught my meaning. “You can’t be

serious.”
“And our pack is about to lose everything,” I hissed back. “Iris has
failed us. We’ve already lost the Grey pack protection. We can’t afford
to lose Phillips too.”
I glanced at Kim again, calculating coldly. “Kim’s also affected by the
wolf’s bane. If we can get her upstairs with Noah while he’s still…
receptive… we might still secure an alliance.”
Thomas stared at me, his face a mask of disbelief. “Catherine, you’re
talking about using your own daughter as-”
“As a way to save our pack,” I cut him off. “The Stone pack needs
Phillips pack support. Now more than ever.”
I moved to Kim’s side, placing my hand on her shoulder in a gesture
that looked caring but was firm enough to keep her from sliding off
the chair. “Kim, honey,” I said, forcing warmth into my voice. “I need
you to help us out now. Noah is upstairs, and he’s a good match for
you. He’s pure–blooded, from a respectable pack.”
“What?” Kim looked up at me, confusion clouding her features. “I
don’t want… Noah… what’s happening to me?”
“This is important,” I insisted, tightening my grip on her shoulder.

“You need to go upstairs to Noah. The Stone pack needs you to do
this.”
Kim’s eyes widened with the beginning of comprehension and fear.
“Mom? What are you saying?”
I softened my voice, but kept the steel in my words. “Kim, darling,
we’re only asking you to help save our pack. Noah is a good man, even
if he’s not an Alpha. His packy has a seat on the Council. If you…
connect with him, he’ll have to accept you.”
Kim tried to stand, shock and resistance clear in her expression. “No!
I won’t! You can’t make me do this!”
I gripped her arm firmly, pulling her up. “There’s nothing more
important right now than the survival of the Stone pack. Do you
understand what will happen if we lose our standing completely?
Other packs will take our territory, our businesses, everything.”
Tears welled in Kim’s eyes as I dragged her toward the stairs. “Please,
Mom, don’t do this…” Her pleading tore at some buried part of my
heart, but I pushed the feeling down. This wasn’t the time for
maternal weakness.
