Chapter 132
Iris’s POV
Spring sunlight filtered through the newly budding trees as I sat on a
campus bench, watching students hurry to their next classes. The
scent of fresh grass and blooming flowers filled my nose, a welcome
change from the sterile design studios I’d been locked in for the past
week. I’d been using this quiet corner of campus to think about my
next steps.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, interrupting my planning. I pulled it‘
out, surprised to see Ethan Lowell’s name flashing on the screen. My
finger hovered over the answer button for a moment before I swiped.
“Hello, Mr. Lowell,” I answered, keeping my voice professional.
“Iris! Please, call me Ethan.” His voice was warm and enthusiastic. “I
hope I’m not interrupting anything important?”
“Just enjoying some fresh air between classes.” I shifted on the bench,
tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
“Perfect timing then. I’ll get straight to the point – I want you to
come work at Polaris Studio.” There was no hesitation in his voice.

“Salary isn’t an issue. We need designers with your talent and vision.”
I blinked, taken aback by his directness. “That’s quite an offer.”
“We’ve dealt with the executive who was disrespectful to you before,”
Ethan continued. “Miles has been removed from our pack. His
behavior was unacceptable.”
My breath caught. “Wait, those security guards at the hotel that
night… they were yours?”
“Yes,” Ethan admitted. “I had people watching over you. I couldn’t
allow a talented designer to be harassed like that.”
“So what do you say, Iris? Polaris Studio would be honored to have
you join us.”
I gazed across the campus lawn, weighing my options carefully.
Polaris was prestigious, certainly, but…
“I appreciate your offer, Ethan. Truly.” I kept my voice gentle but firm. “But I think I need more freedom than even Polaris could offer me.”
Ethan chuckled softly. “I understand. Just know that Polaris’s doors
will always be open for you.”

After ending the call, I stared at my phone. “That’s what, the third job
offer this month?” I muttered to myself. “Everyone thinks their
company is perfect for me.”
The hallway of the design building smelled like a mixture of art
supplies, coffee, and the lingering scents of dozens of students. I
wrinkled my nose slightly at the overwhelming blend as I pushed
through the double doors to meet with my advisor.
“Here’s the updated draft of my project,” I said, sliding the folder
across the desk. I watched my professor’s face carefully as she
examined my designs.
Though creating these pieces had been simple for me—just basic
techniques compared to what I’d done as Aurora–I still felt a flutter
of pride. My professor’s eyes widened as she flipped through the
pages.
“Iris, this is… exceptional.” She adjusted her glasses, leaning closer to
examine the details. “There’s a wild beauty to your work that’s rare to
see in student projects. The way you’ve integrated these organic
elements with the precision of the setting…” She looked up at me.
“It’s hard to believe this is undergraduate work.”
I smiled, feeling a small spark of satisfaction. “Thank you. I’ve been
experimenting with different techniques.”

“Well, whatever you’re doing, keep it up.” She closed the folder and
handed it back. “You’re ready for the final submission. I don’t have a
single correction to suggest.”
After a few more minutes of pleasant conversation, I excused myself
