Chapter 140
Iris’s POV
I watched Catherine’s face transform from shock to disbelief as my
words sank in. Her perfectly made–up features contorted like d
been physically struck. For years, this woman had manipulated me,
used me as a pawn, and treated me like nothing more than a means to
an end. Now she was finally realizing that her control over me had
completely evaporated.
“You can’t do this,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
I didn’t respond, just observed with cold satisfaction as she scrambled
up from the ground where she’d fallen after my revelation about the
house. Her designer outfit was smeared with dirt, her hair disheveled.
It was almost comical seeing Catherine Stone, who was always so
obsessed with appearances, looking so utterly undone.
She lunged toward me, her movements desperate and uncoordinated.
I caught my security team’s attention with a subtle glance.
“Let her come,” I said quietly. “I want to see what other performance
she has planned.”

Catherine reached me, her face twisted with rage. “Iris, you’ve lost
your mind, haven’t you?” Her voice rose to a shriek as she jabbed a
finger at me. “The Stone family might not be what it once was, but
you can’t just betray your own pack! I raised you! I’ve taken care of
you since your father died!”
I let her words wash over me, feeling nothing but a cold detach ent.
Raised me? Taken care of me? The audacity was almost impressive.
“Raising me?” I repeated, my voice calm and measured. “Is that what
you call it? I never felt your care, Catherine. All I ever felt was your
calculations. How to use me, how to profit from me, how to
manipulate me into doing exactly what you wanted.”
I took a step closer to her, lowering my voice. “Including using me to
secure an alliance with the Grey family to protect the Stone pack. Did
you think I’d forgotten about that little arrangement?”
Catherine’s eyes darted around, looking for support from the others.
The creditors watched our confrontation with open curiosity,
momentarily distracted from their demands for payment.
I reached into my bag, pulling out a manila folder I’d prepared
specifically for this moment. The weight of it felt satisfying in my
hands. This was the moment I’d been waiting for.

“I brought something for you, Catherine. Something I think you’ll
find… illuminating.” I kept my voice conversational, as if we were
discussing nothing more important than the weather. “This is DNA
analysis I had done through special channels at the Werewolf
Council. Today seems like the perfect day to share the results, don’t
you think?”
Catherine’s eyes widened with undisguised greed as she reached for
the folder. I pulled it back slightly, then deliberately threw it in her
face, the papers scattering around her.
“Really? I think you know better than anyone, don’t you?” My voice
dropped to ice. “Playing relatives all these years… aren’t you tired of
the charade?”
I turned my gaze toward Kim, who had been hovering nearby with a
look of confusion. “Your husband playing my uncle. That’s quite the
elaborate family theater you’ve staged. Even willing to violate the
most basic werewolf blood laws.”
The creditors exchanged confused glances, clearly not expecting to
witness a family blood scandal when they’d come to collect debts.
I watched Catherine’s eyes dart frantically over the papers, her hands
shaking as she tried to gather them up. The naked fear in her
expression told me everything I needed to know. She was wondering
exactly how long I’d known the truth.

“Wondering when I found out?” I asked, reading her thoughts. “Much
earlier than you’d imagine.”
Catherine completely broke down then, her carefully constructed
facade crumbling away. Years of lies and manipulation stripped bare
in an instant. She clutched the papers to her chest, her body
trembling.
I turned to address the creditors, my voice clear and controlled. “Is
this sufficient? Have you seen enough?”
They nodded, clearly eager to escape the unfolding family drama. I
gave them a curt nod. “Then you can leave. Now.”
To my satisfaction, they began to file out. The truth had more power
than I’d anticipated.
As they were leaving, Catherine found her voice again, her words
coming out in a hysterical scream. “You’re lying! These are all
forgeries! The Council would never authorize this kind of testing!”
I noticed her screams were attracting attention from other
werewolves in the compound. Perfect–just as she intended. She was
hoping to use pack pressure against me.
Kim seized the opportunity, immediately slipping into her well-

practiced role of the innocent victim. “Sister, how could you say such
terrible things?” Her voice dripped with false sweetness. “After
everything Mom has done for you…”
My laugh cut her off. Even now, even after everything had been
exposed, they were still trying to manipulate the situation The sheer
absurdity of it was almost impressive.
I felt the stares of the gathering werewolves, their curious and
judgmental gazes falling on me. But unlike before, I didn’t care. I
didn’t need their approval anymore.
I reached back into my bag and pulled out more papers. “Since that
evidence isn’t convincing enough for you, Catherine, perhaps you’d
like to examine these other reports?”
I handed her five separate DNA analyses, each from different, highly
reputable institutions. “I had tests done at five different authorities,
just in case you tried to dismiss them. Go ahead, look them over
carefully.”
Catherine snatched the papers from my hand, her eyes scanning them
rapidly. With each page, her face grew paler, her body starting to
tremble visibly.
“Now you’ve seen the truth with your own eyes,” I said, my voice

dropping to a command. “Take all of this and get the hell out. Stop
disturbing the peace here.”
I turned my back on her, walking toward the house and closing the
door firmly behind me.
Inside, I could still hear Catherine and Kim’s shouts and curses
through the door. I took a deep breath, feeling an unexpected
lightness in my chest.
“Make sure they leave the premises,” I instructed my security team,
watching as they efficiently moved to escort Catherine, Kim, and the
others off the property. They closed the outer gates, securing the
area.
I took another deep breath, savoring the silence that finally fell. It
was done. The years of pretense, of being controlled and manipulated
by the Stone family–all of it was finally over.
The werewolf community would be buzzing with rumors soon
enough, but I found I didn’t care. I had the truth on my side, and that
was all that mattered.
I was free.
