Chapter 151
Sebastien’s POV
The sound of glass shattering broke through my irritation. I glanced up just in time to see a young waitress standing frozen in horror, fragments of a broken glass scattered across the polished floor of the private dining room. Water had splashed onto Vanessa Sullivan’s designer dress, creating dark splotches on
the expensive fabric.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry, it was my mistake! Are you alright?” The waitress was practically trembling, her face pale with fear as she looked
between Vanessa and me.
I didn’t move to help, just watched with detached interest. This disaster of a business lunch couldn’t end soon enough. I’d agreed to meet Vanessa Sullivan to discuss a potential collaboration between our companies, but it had been painfully obvious within the first ten minutes that her interest was more
personal than professional.
What surprised me was Vanessa’s reaction. Instead of the annoyed outburst I expected, she smiled reassuringly at the waitress.
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it. Accidents happen.”
I narrowed my eyes slightly. Really? This display of kindness is for my benefit? The sweet act didn’t match the calculating woman who’d spent the last hour trying to touch my hand or arm at every opportunity.
1 grabbed a napkin from the table and handed it to Vanessa, using the moment to pull her up from her chair. “Here.”
Thank you, Sebastien,” she said, her voice dropping to what I assumed she thought was a seductive tone.
The waitress was still apologizing profusely as she bent down to pick up the larger pieces of glass. I checked my watch–we’d been here nearly an hour and a half, which was about an hour longer than I’d intended.
When the waitress had left and Vanessa had dabbed at her dress, I saw her hand moving toward mine across the table. I pulled back instinctively, reaching for my water glass instead.
“Mr. Grey, since lunch is pretty much over anyway, Vanessa said, leaning forward slightly, “why don’t we go shopping? I need to change out of this wet dress, and there are some excellent boutiques in this mall.”
I almost laughed at the transparency of her suggestion. Shopping? Really? As if I don’t see through that pathetic expe
‘Sullivan,” I said coolly, not bothering to mask my impatience, ‘I came here to discuss business, not for a date. If you dont have anything substantial to add to our conversation about the potential partnership, I think we’re done here.”
Her smile faltered slightly, but before she could respond, something caught my eye through the large window beside our table. A flash of vibrant red!
turned my head, my attention suddenly laser focused on the figure walking past the restaurant.
Iris.
My pulse quickened instantly. She was wearing a bold red blouse that made her stand out against the dull backdrop of the mall. Hes hair was down. cascading over her shoulders in that way that always made me want to run my fingers through it. She moved with purpose, her walk confident and elegant
I watched as several men turned to look at her as she passed, their eyes lingering appreciatively on her figure. Samething hot and possessive flared in my chest. Stop staring at her, assholes.

I stood up abruptly, dropping my napkin on the table. “Let’s go.”
