Catherine’s eye twitched. I was getting to her, pushing all the right buttons.

“That ungrateful little-” She caught herself, but not before I glimpsed the raw hatred in her eyes. “I mean, I’m surprised she didn’t

mention it.”

I nodded sympathetically. “It must be so difficult for you, having raised her all these years, only for her to abandon you when she finally achieves success. And after everything you’ve done for her.”

“WHAT?‘ Catherine suddenly shrieked, making me jump slightly. “That worthless, thankless bitch! We gave her EVERYTHING! A roof over her head, connections to the Grey family, and this is how she repays us? By leaving us to rot while she hoards money?”

I watched, genuinely entertained, as Catherine completely lost control. Her face contorted with rage, spittle flying from her mouth as she continued her tirade. Kim looked equally incensed, nodding vigorously beside her mother.

“She’s living in luxury while we’re practically homeless!” Catherine slammed her fist on the table, causing the teacups to rattle. “That’s OUR money! We MADE her who she is!”

God, this woman was insane. No wonder Iris had cut ties with her family. If I’d been raised by this psychotic harpy, I’d have run for the

hills too.

“You’re absolutely right,” I said, feeding her fury. “After everything you’ve done, raising her as your own, this is nothing short of betrayal. It’s… what’s the phrase? Ah yes, the height of ingratitude.”

“Exactly!” Catherine hissed, her eyes wild with anger. “Ingratitude! After I treated her like my own daughter!”

I nodded eagerly. “It’s unforgivable, really. Such a cruel girl, to turn her back on the people who raised her. Especially when you’re struggling so terribly.”

Catherine was practically foaming at the mouth now. “She’s always been this way. Cold. Calculating. Selfish. Just like her father!”

I glanced at my watch, deciding the time was right to make my exit. I’d planted the seeds; now I just needed to let them grow.

“I wish I could tell you more,” I said, rising gracefully from my seat. “But I’ve already said more than I should. Iris seems to be doing quite well for herself these days. I just thought you deserved to know.”

Catherine looked up at me, desperation in her eyes. “Wait! Where is she living? What else do you know?”

I smiled thinly, stepping toward the side door of the private dining room. “I’ve shared what I can. The meal is on me, by the way. Please, enjoy the rest of your dinner.”

As I slipped out, I caught a final glimpse of Catherine’s face–a perfect storm of greed, envy, and rage. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. She would definitely go after Iris now, creating exactly the kind of chaos I needed.

Outside the restaurant, I walked quickly to my car, a satisfied smile spreading across my face. The memory of Sebastien’s cold rejection

still stung, but this–this sweet revenge–would make it all worthwhile.

“It’s all falling into place,” I whispered to myself as i started the engine. “Only by making Iris truly miserable will Sebastien see what a

mistake he’s made.

My phone buzzed with a notification from the restaurant. I glanced at the bill that had just been charged to my card and grimaced at the amount. Those two had ordered the most expensive items on the menu–premium steaks, vintage wine, and several desserts.

“Vultures,” I muttered, tossing my phone onto the passenger seat. But it was worth every penny if it meant destroying Iris’s life. After all, what was money compared to getting back what was rightfully mine?
