Megan’s POV
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from my phone screen. Catherine Stone’s video was absolutely perfect–Iris looking like a cold, violent bitch slapping her poor mother, with none of the context that might have justified it. The comment section was even better, filled with people tearing Iris apart, calling her heartless and cruel. My chest felt light with excitement as I scrolled through each new vicious comment.
“God, this is working out even better than I expected,” I whispered to myself, grinning at the view count that kept ticking up. Catherine had done her part beautifully. That desperate, money–hungry woman was so easy to manipulate.
I tossed my phone onto my bed and practically skipped to my closet. This called for a celebration. I pulled out my favorite black dress–the one that hugged my curves in all the right places and made my ex–boyfriends text me at two in the morning. Tonight was special. Sebastien would see what happened when someone crossed me. He’d see exactly what kind of woman he’d chosen over me.
I grabbed my phone again and fired off a group text to my werewolf social circle: “Everyone, tonight at Moonlight Bar. My treat! Got something to
celebrate!”
Responses came flooding in immediately. Of course they’d come–I was buying. And they all loved a good drama show.
As I applied my makeup, I imagined Iris’s reputation in tatters, her position at Crescent Design compromised. Sebastien would finally see her for what she really was–a calculating, cold bitch who’d manipulated her way into his life. He’d come back to me. He had to.
“You’re going down, Iris Stone,” I said to my reflection, carefully applying my deep red lipstick. “And I won’t even have to get my hands dirty.”
The drive to Moonlight Bar was a blur. I sang along to the radio, feeling more alive than I had in months. It was amazing how good revenge could feel when it was going exactly according to plan.
I made my entrance at the bar with a flourish, waving to familiar faces as -Jennifer Watson and a few other girls from our werewolf social circle.
crossed to our usual table. Several of my friends were already there
“First round’s on me!” I announced, raising my arm to signal the bartender “Let’s make it shots!”
“Someone’s in a good mood,” Jennifer remarked, eyeing me suspiciously. “What exactly are we celebrating?”
I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. “Can’t a girl just want to have fun with her friends?”
The shots arrived, and I downed mine quickly, welcoming the burn in my throat. The alcohol spread warmth through my body, enhancing my already elated mood. I ordered another round immediately. Tonight was special. Tonight was the beginning of Iris Stone’s downfall.
After my third shot, my face felt pleasantly warm, though my mind remained clear. One benefit of being a werewolf—it took a lot more to get truly drunk.
“You guys see that video going around?” I asked casually, watching their reactions closely.
Jennifer looked up from her phone and nodded. “The one with Catherine Stone and her daughter? Yeah, it’s all over the werewolf forums.
“So sad,” I said, forcing my face into an expression of concern. I hate seeing things like that. Iris really doesn’t deserve all this negativity.
The words felt strange on my tongue, defending someone I hated so deep But this was part of the plan. I needed to lock sympathetic, to be
