Chapter 190

Miles raised his hand as if to strike me. Instead of backing away, I stepped closer, looking directly into his eyes.

Go ahead,I challenged. Hit me. I’d love to see you try, right here in public with everyone watching. I’m sure that would make a great addition to the

evidence.

His hand froze midair. The café had gone quiet, all eyes on our confrontation.

Just wait and see when you’ll be kicked out of the design world,I said, gathering my things. People like you don’t deserve to be called designers.

Just as I finished speaking, the bell above the café door jingled. A welldressed woman in her forties walked in, her eyes scanning the room before landing

on Miles. She was slightly overweight but had taken care with her appearanceexpensive clothes, perfectly styled hair, tasteful makeup. I recognized her

instantly from photos: Rose, Miles’s wife.

Miles’s face transformed from anger to horror. Darling, I can explain—*

The slap echoed through the café. Rose’s hand connected with Miles’s cheek with such force that he staggered backward. I was honestly impressed by the

strength behind itthe red imprint of her hand appeared almost instantly on his pale skin.

You disgusting excuse for a man!Rose shouted, grabbing his ear and twisting it like she was disciplining a child. I’ve been looking at those photos for the

last twenty minutes! And the emails! How could you do this to those girls?

The café owner had stepped out from behind the counter, uncertain whether to intervene. Customers were openly staring now, and I noticed several had

their phones out, recording the scene.

Rose, please, not here- Miles begged, his voice highpitched with pain and humiliation.

Where then? At home where no one can see what a fraud you are?She twisted his ear harder, making him yelp. I’ve stood by you for fifteen years,

defended you when people called you difficult to work with. And all this time, you’ve been-She choked on her words, too angry to continue.

The café owner finally approached. Ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to—*

I’m leaving,Rose snapped, releasing Miles’s ear but grabbing his collar instead. And I’m taking this piece of garbage with me. She looked at Miles with

disgust. The divorce papers will be ready tomorrow.

Two men who looked like Rose’s friends appeared from outside and practically dragged Miles through the door. Rose paused when she reached me, her eyes

redrimmed but determined.

Thank you,she said, her voice cracking slightly. For telling me the truth. I always thought he was a good husband.

I shook my head. I just did what needed to be done. I’m sorry you had to find out this way.

Rose smiled sadly. I’m not. Better now than waste more years on him. She glanced outside where Miles was being put into a car. I should go deal with…. that. But thank you again.

I hope you find someone better,I said sincerely.

Oh, I will, she replied with surprising conviction. And so will you, if you haven’t already.

After Rose left, I sat back down, pulling out my phone. Social media was already buzzing. Someone had posted the entire confrontation online, and it was spreading rapidly. As I scrolled through the comments, I noticed a post from an anonymous account detailing Miles’s history of abuse, complete with testimonies from former victims.

I recognized Rachel’s handiwork immediately. The post detailed everything: how Miles had drugged girls at industry parties, threatened them with career destruction, stolen their work, and then discarded them when they were no longer useful.
