Jealousy Alpha’s Regret

Chapter 191

Iris’s POV

He finally paid for what he did,I muttered to myself.

The design department was quieter than usual today. News about Milespublic humiliation had spread quickly through the werewolf design community, and everyone seemed to be processing it in their own way. Some designers looked relieved, others nervousprobably wondering if their own misconduct might be next to be exposed.

I glanced at the calendar on my desk, calculating the remaining time I had at Crescent Design. The competition would end next week, and after that, I’d have only one more week before I could leave this place for good. The thought brought a mixture of relief and

apprehension.

Leaving here will be good,I whispered. I can start my life over.

My hand instinctively moved to my stomach, feeling the subtle swell that had become more noticeable to me, even if nobody else had detected it yet. I needed a fresh start for both of us.

I spent the next hour methodically reviewing all the designs I’d worked on, ensuring everything was properly documented and organized for whoever would take over my projects. I couldn’t afford to leave any loose ends that might give anyoneespecially Sebastienan excuse to call me back or claim I’d been unprofessional.

Can’t give them any ammunition,I thought, doublechecking each file and making notes about the current status of every project.

By the time I finished, most of my colleagues had already left for the day. I gathered my belongings, shut down my computer, and headed toward the elevator. My thoughts had already drifted to my apartment and the new plants I’d bought last weekend. They needed watering, and I was looking forward to the peaceful ritual of tending to them.

The elevator doors opened to the underground parking garage, which was dimly lit and eerily quiet at this hour. My footsteps echoed as 1 walked toward my car, keys already in hand, I was mentally listing the things I needed to do once I got home when a movement in my peripheral vision made me freeze.

A tall, dark figure emerged from between two parked cars. I immediately stepped back, my heart rate spiking. Who’s there?I called out, my hand instinctively moving to protect my stomach.

As the figure moved into the weak overhead light, I recognized Sebastien. My momentary fear shifted to confusion and then irritation. What was he doing lurking in the parking garage?

Sebastien?I said, keeping my distance.

Something was wrong. Even in the poor lighting, I could see his face was flushed unnaturally. His breathing seemed labored, and there was a strange scent coming from hima mix of fever and something wild. My werewolf senses picked up on the abnormal pheromones emanating from his skin. It reminded me of the scent werewolves gave off when they were struggling to maintain their human form.

Chapter 191

We shouldn’t have any contact anymore,I said, trying to step around him.

He moved to block my path, swaying slightly as he did so. Ethan Lowell is your blood relative, isn’t he?The words came out as a growl.

I frowned, not quite catching what he said. What?

He raised his head, and I noticed his lips were unnaturally pale against his flushed face. His eyes seemed to flicker between their normal color and the amber glow of his wolf.

Ethan Lowell, he repeated, louder this time. He’s your blood relative. That’s why he’s been so interested in you.

I noticed his fingers twitching at his sides, the nails lengthening slightly before reverting to normala clear sign he was struggling to maintain his human form. This was bad. If he transformed in a public parking garage, even partially, it could expose us all.
