Chapter 193
Iris’s POV
รบ
I stared at Daniel Parker as he stood frozen, his mouth slightly open, eyes wide with shock at the sight of Sebastien collapsed on the concrete floor. The partial transformation–claws instead of fingernails, patches of silver fur along his jawline–was alarming enough, but the way he clutched my hand with burning fingers was worse.
“Parker, stop standing there like an idiot and help me,” I said, my voice coming out sharper than intended. “He’s burning up.”
Daniel blinked rapidly, finally snapping out of his daze. “Yes, of course. I’m sorry.”
He rushed forward, kneeling beside Sebastien and carefully trying to pry his fingers from mine. Sebastien’s grip only tightened, a pained growl escaping his throat.
“Be careful,” I warned. “He’s not fully conscious.”
Daniel nodded, his movements becoming more gentle. With some effort, we managed to get Sebastien into a sitting position, though he still wouldn’t release my hand.
“We need to get him to a doctor,” I said, looking at Daniel.
Sebastien let out another pained sound, his body trembling against mine. His skin felt like it was on fire, even through his clothes.
“His temperature is way too high,” I muttered, concern overriding my irritation.
I turned back to Daniel. “Go find his car.”
The ride to the Grey family estate was tense. Daniel drove while I sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing back at Sebastien, who lay across the back seat, still partially transformed and burning with fever.
I stared out the window at the passing streetlights, my thoughts drifting back to the parking garage. Why had Sebastien been there? What was he doing asking about Ethan Lowell? And why was he so sick?
I caught Daniel’s eyes in the rearview mirror more than once, studying me with curiosity and something else–wariness, perhaps, oi
suspicion.
Let him think what he wants, I thought, keeping my face carefully neutral. It didn’t matter what Sebastien’s Beta thought of me anymore. Once the competition ended and my notice period was up, I’d never have to see any of these people again.
My hand absently moved to my stomach, and I quickly redirected it to my lap. No one could know about the pregnancy vet. Especially not anyone connected to Sebastien.

Daniel pulled into the Grey family estate, bypassing the main house and heading toward a smaller building near the edge of the property. I recognized it as the family’s private medical facility, where werewolves could be treated without exposing our kind to human doctors.
‘I’ve already called Dr. Morris, Daniel said as he parked. “He should be here shortly.”
We managed to get Sebastien inside, though it took both of us to support his weight. His skin still burned with fever, and his breathing had become more labored. Once we had him settled on a bed, Daniel suggested I wait in the small adjoining lounge while he prepared the
room for the doctor’s arrival.
I sat on one of the stiff leather chairs, my body tense. I hadn’t been back to the Grey estate since I moved out. Being here again felt… wrong somehow. Like stepping back into a life I’d worked hard to leave behind.
Dr. Morris arrived quickly, his silver hair disheveled as if he’d rushed over. He nodded briefly to me before entering the examination room. I could hear murmured voices as he spoke with Daniel, then the sound of equipment being moved around.
After several minutes, Dr. Morris emerged, his expression serious.
“It’s werewolf influenza,” he announced. “There’s been an outbreak in the North American werewolf community recently.”
