Jealousy Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 243
After ending the call, I moved to the stairs, peering down to assess the situation on the ground floor. The warehouse was eerily quiet. Had everyone actually left?
I didn’t have long to wonder. Thomas began to stir, groaning against his gag. His eyes flew open, panic replacing the arrogance I’d grown
accustomed to seeing. He struggled against the restraints, the chair creaking under his frantic movements.
“It’s no use,” I said coldly. “Those knots won’t come undone–unlike the amateur work your people did on me.”
Thomas made muffled sounds behind the gag, his eyes wide with desperation.
The sound of a car engine outside caught my attention. I tensed, gripping the knife tighter as I moved to the window. Through the grimy glass, I could see a vehicle pulling up–not police, but a familiar car. Two figures stepped out, and I recognized them as Thomas’s hired
muscle.
I positioned myself near the stairway, listening as footsteps echoed through the warehouse below. The stairs creaked as the two men made their way up. When they reached the landing and saw the scene–Thomas bound and me standing over him with a knife–they froze, exchanging alarmed glances.
“He told us you’d be secured,” one of them said, his hand moving toward his waistband.
“As you can see, plans change,” I replied, maintaining a calm I didn’t entirely feel. “You have two choices: stay and join him, or leave now
while you can.”
The men looked at each other again, and I could read their thoughts as clearly as if they’d spoken them aloud. They were calculating risks and rewards, weighing Thomas’s anger against the wrath of the Grey family.
“The Grey pack will hunt down everyone involved,” I added, seeing their hesitation. “Your employer has already confessed to murder. How loyal are you feeling today?”
That was enough. Without another word, both men turned and hurried back down the stairs. Through the window, I watched them scramble into their car and speed away, leaving Thomas to his fate.
I turned to Thomas, whose face had gone pale. “Looks like honor among thieves isn’t what it used to be.”
The distant wail of sirens broke through the silence. Relief washed over me, but I maintained my vigilance. This wasn’t over yet.
When the werewolf council’s police unit burst through the door, weapons drawn, I raised my hands immediately.
“Don’t move!” an officer shouted, his gun trained on me.
“I’m Iris Stone,” I said calmly. “I’m the victim here. This man kidnapped me:

Chapter 243
The officers looked skeptically between me and Thomas, who was still bound to the chair, making desperate noises behind his gag.
“Both of you will need to come with us,” the lead officer said. “We’ll sort this out at headquarters.”
I nodded, understanding their caution. “Of course.”
At the council headquarters, I was placed in an interrogation room alone. I knew the protocol–they needed to separate us to get independent statements. I sat patiently, gathering my thoughts.
When an investigator finally entered, his expression was stern. “Ms. Stone, your captor claims you’re the aggressor. Says you attacked him
unprovoked.”
I smiled faintly and reached into my collar, pulling out a small device. “This recording should clear things up. It captured everything from the moment I was brought to the warehouse, including Thomas Stone’s confession to murdering my father.*
I placed the recording device on the table. “Black Stone Industries standard issue–records for up to eight hours. My father always said to be prepared for anything. I guess that lesson finally paid off.”
The investigator’s eyebrows rose as he picked up the device. From the next room, I could hear Thomas’s voice rising in panic as he realized what evidence I had.
“I have a complete confession,” I said confidently. “Thomas admitted to tampering with my father’s car, causing the accident that killed him. He also detailed the kidnapping plan.”
The investigator’s demeanor shifted as he listened to a brief segment of the recording. He looked up at me with new respect.
