Jealousy Alpha's Regret novel Chapter 273

Chapter 273

Iris’s POV

I woke up with a mild headache, the awkward dinner from last night still playing on loop in my mind. God, what was that even about? The arrangement Lucas’s mother had casually dropped into conversation still made me cringe. A potential mate? For her son? With me? The whole thing felt like some weird throwback to medieval times, not something that should be happening in my life right now.

Rolling out of bed, I dragged myself to the bathroom and splashed cold water on my face. The mirror reflected dark circles under my eyes-pregnancy combined with werewolf family drama was definitely not doing wonders for my complexion.

While nibbling on dry toast to settle my stomach, I mentally walked through my day. “Project review at terr, the winter collection needs final approval, and that meeting with the design team at two…” The list went on. A full day of work might be exactly what I needed to forget about territorial werewolves and awkward family dinners.

I picked out a comfortable but professional outfit-a loose-fitting navy blouse and tailored black pants. Nothing too tight around the waist; comfort was becoming my priority these days. As I slipped on my watch, I realized it was already nine-thirty.

*Shit, I need to get going. Today’s schedule is packed,’ I muttered to myself, grabbing my bag and keys.

The drive to the office was mercifully uneventful, but as soon as I walked through the glass doors of Stone Designs, I sensed something was off. The

receptionist’s eyes widened when she saw me, and two junior designers who had been whispering by the water cooler suddenly fell silent, their gazes darting

away awkwardly.

What the hell was going on?

As I approached the front desk, both receptionists-Alison and Tara-looked like they’d seen a ghost. Their smiles were strained, and they exchanged these

weird glances that screamed “You tell her!” “No, you tell her!”

“Good morning,” I said, frowning slightly. “Is everything okay?”

“Good morning, Ms. Stone,” Alison replied, her voice unnaturally high. “Everything’s… fine. Just fine.”

Tara’s eyes kept flicking toward the corner of the reception area, but I was too focused on their strange behavior to look.

“You’re both acting weird,” I said bluntly, but decided not to push it. Whatever office drama was brewing could wait. “I’ll be in my office if anyone needs me.

As I walked past the reception area, I noticed an unusual scent in the air-floral, rich, and overwhelming. It almost masked every other smell in the building. Glancing to my left, I caught a glimpse of what looked like several large flower arrangements, but I kept walking. Probably for someone’s birthday or

anniversary.

I had barely settled at my desk when my assistant, jenny, rushed in, her face flushed and her normally neat ponytail slightly askew.

“Iris,” she began, then corrected herself, ‘I mean, Ms. Stone. I need to tell you something.”

The nervous energy radiating from her made me put down my pen. “What’s happened?”

Jenny twisted her hands together. “It’s just that… since eight this morning, there’s been… flowers. Lots of flowers. Being delivered.

“Flowers?” I repeated, feeling my stomach tighten with suspicion. For whom?

For you, she said, her voice dropping to almost a whisper. Five bouquets so far. And some packages. They just keep coming.”

A cold feeling crept up my spine. “Who sent them?”

Jenny shook her head. “The delivery people won’t say. They just say they were instructed to deliver them here, to you.”

My mind immediately jumped to possibilities. Lucas? After that weird dinner last night? Or maybe… No, it couldn’t be Sebastien. He wouldn’t do something so public, so obvious. It wasn’t his style.

“I should go see for myself,” I said, standing up.

When I reached the front desk again, I stopped short. The “some flowers” Jenny had mentioned turned out to be an understatement. The entire reception

area looked like a botanical garden had exploded. Massive arrangements of roses, lilies, and exotic blooms I couldn’t even name filled every available surface.

Elegantly wrapped boxes were stacked beside them.

“What the hell?” I whispered under my breath.

As I stood there, trying to process the floral invasion, the front doors opened, and another delivery person entered, struggling with what might have been

the largest flower arrangement I’d ever seen.

“Delivery for Iris Stone?” he called out, peering around the massive bouquet.
