Chapter 276
Sebastien Grey pursuing Iris Stone again.”
Iris Stone rejected Sebastien Grey’s flowers.”
I shut off my phone with a groan, massaging my temples. The wolves gossip network was frighteningy efficient. Kej dosti maj pack in the region would be discussing this by dinner.
Is he trying to make sure every werewolf knows?” I muttered, frustration building “What’s his anger
I tried to focus on work, but my concentration was shattered when my phone rang with a call from the front desk.
Ms. Stone, there’s someone here to see you. Says he knows you well and would like to come up.”
Before I could respond, I heard Lucas’s voice in the background. “Iris, it’s me.”
I fought back a sigh. First Sebastien, now Lucas? Was today “Disrupt Iris’s Workday holiday?
Why is everyone determined to interrupt my work today?” I grumbled, feeling my territory being invaded repeatedly. “I’ll come
down myself.”
As I rode the elevator down, I tried to prepare myself. Lucas’s sudden appearance likely had something to do with that ridiculous
arrangement his mother had mentioned last night. The memory alone made me cringe.
When the elevator doors opened, I spotted Lucas immediately, standing by the reception desk with a bouquet of flowers so large it nearly obscured him. Several female employees were openly staring, some whispering behind their hands.
I approached him, cutting straight to the chase. “Lucas, what brings you here?”
His face lit up when he saw me. “I brought these for you,” he said, presenting the massive bouquet. “I saw these beautiful flowers blooming in your garden yesterday and thought you might like some for your office.”
I stared at the flowers, remembering Sebastien’s deliveries that had been cleared out just hours ago. The irony wasn’t lost on me, and my mood darkened further.
“I’m sorry, Lucas, but our receptionist has severe pollen allergies,” I lied smoothly. “We can’t accept flowers in the office. But thank you for the thought.”
Disappointment flashed across his face, but it was quickly replaced with a persistent smile. “Of course, I should have asked first, I IL remember that for next time.
I noticed his eyes scanning the reception area, probably looking for some evidence of the other flowers that had been delivered earlier. Thankfully, the staff had distributed them all.

Chapter 276
“I have to get back to work,’ I said firmly. “We’re very busy today.”
“Right, of course, Lucas nodded, still holding the rejected flowers. “By the way, did you accept my friend request? I sent it last night.
“I’ll check it when I have time,” I replied, already backing toward the elevator.
“Great! Maybe we could grab lunch sometime?” he called after me, apparently immune to subtle rejection.
Til see you around, Lucas,” I said noncommittally, escaping into the elevator.
After approving Lucas’s friend request, I immediately received a message asking about lunch. I left it unanswered, too preoccupied
with work to deal with another complication.
As I walked through the building’s lobby later, I happened to glance through the glass doors and froze. Outside stood Lucas and Sebastien, clearly engaged in some kind of standoff. I couldn’t hear their words, but their body language spoke volumes-two dominant wolves sizing each other up.
I turned away, heading for the elevator. “Let them fight their territorial battle without me,” 1 muttered. I’m not a prize to be won.”
Just as I reached the elevator, Jenny called out, “Ms. Stone! It’s lunchtime. You should eat something.”
I checked my watch, surprised to see it was already past noon. I’d been so absorbed in work that I’d lost track of time. Rubbing my stiff neck, I nodded.
“You’re right. I’ll go grab something nearby.”
I walked toward the main entrance, my mind already on the salad I planned to order from the café down the street. As I pushed open the door, a figure stepped directly into my path.
