Chapter 36
Iris’s POV
The sight of the man’s bloodied body on the garage floor was still
fresh in my mind as I crouched down beside him. My heart pounded
against my ribs, but I forced myself to stay calm.
t
“Sir, can you hear me?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
The man’s eyelids fluttered weakly. His breathing was labored, each
inhale sounding painful and shallow. As his eyes opened slightly, I
caught a flash of gold in his pupils–unmistakable to anyone who
knew what to look for.
He’s a werewolf.
My mind raced. I hadn’t seen him at any pack gatherings, which
meant he was probably from another territory. What was he doing
here?
“Rachel,” I said quickly, turning to my friend who stood frozen behind
Rachel nodded, pulling out her phone with shaking hands. While she

made the call, I turned back to the man, gently checking for his pulse.
It was there, but weak.
“Don’t worry,” I said softly, leaning closer. “Just try to keep your
breathing steady. Help is on the way.”
His eyes focused on me for a brief moment, recognition flickering
across his face before pain overtook him again. I wondered if he knew
who I was–not just as his new neighbor, but as a Stone, as Sebastien
Grey’s wife.
Within minutes, I heard the elevator doors open and two men in
paramedic uniforms rushed out. They moved with the efficient
precision that marked them as wolf medical personnel.
“I found him like this,” I explained as they knelt beside the man.
“Breathing is shallow, pulse weak. I noticed signs of shifting
instability.” I rattled off the basic emergency assessment every wolf
learns as a child. “No visible puncture wounds, but there’s significant
bruising on his chest.”
One of the paramedics nodded appreciatively at my assessment while
the other began setting up equipment. The first signs of blood oxygen
levels were dangerously low.
A third man hurried from the elevator–older, dressed in a formal suit

that seemed at odds with the emergency situation. His face was
creased with worry as he rushed toward us.
“Mr. Lowell!” he called out, dropping to his knees beside the man.
Lowell? The name hit me like a physical blow. As in Ethan Lowell’s
family?
The man–clearly a butler or household manager–looked up at me
with grateful eyes. “You’re the one who found and helped Mr. Lowell?”
Something about his face seemed vaguely familiar, though I couldn’t
place where I might have seen him before. I nodded, suddenly self-
conscious. “I just happened to be here. I’m glad I could help.”
“The universe works in mysterious ways, Ms. Stone,” he said, his voice
thick with emotion.
The paramedics had Mr. Lowell stabilized enough to move him onto a
stretcher. “We need to get him to the center immediately,” one of
them said.
I glanced at Rachel, who stood a few feet away, eyes wide with
concern. “I should go with them,” I said, surprising myself with the
decision. “Just to make sure he’s okay.”

Rachel nodded. “I’ll wait here.”
The ride to the wolf medical center was tense. I sat beside the butler, who kept making calls in a hushed voice. I tried not to eavesdrop, but my wolf hearing picked up fragments.
“Yes, Alpha Ethan, your grandfather is stable for now… The doctors will be waiting… Ms. Stone found him, yes… No, I don’t think she… I understand, sir.”
My stomach tightened. Alpha Ethan. So he was a pack leader. And Mr. Lowell–Alpha Lowell–was his grandfather. I’d stumbled right into the affairs of another powerful wolf family.
When we arrived at the center–disguised as a private wing of the regular hospital–I settled into the waiting area while they rushed Alpha Lowell into treatment. The walls were soundproofed, but I could still sense the urgency of the medical team’s movements.
The butler sat across from me, his hands clasped tightly. “I cannot thank you enough, Ms. Stone. If you hadn’t found him when you
did…”
“Please, don’t mention it,” I said quietly. “Anyone would have done the same.”
Chapter 36
We sat in silence for nearly an hour before the doors at the end of the hall burst open. A man in his early thirties strode in, his presence commanding attention immediately. He radiated Alpha energy–that unmistakable aura of power that made my wolf instinctively lower
her gaze.
