Jealousy Alpha's Regret novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Iris’s POV

I stared at my phone screen as it lit up with Sebastien’s name. My

stomach clenched instantly with a mixture of irritation and spite.

Three days of silence from him after I’d tried to finalize our divorce,

and now he was calling? Unbelievable.

Oh, so now you want to talk?I muttered, tossing my phone onto the

bed where it continued to vibrate against the comforter. Yesterday

you couldn’t be bothered to pick up when I called, but tonight you’re

suddenly available? Screw that.

A cold laugh escaped my lips. It felt good to ignore him, to give him a

taste of his own medicine. Three years ago, I would have jumped at

his call, pathetically grateful for any scrap of attention. Not anymore.

I turned my back on the stillvibrating phone and headed for the

bathroom. Whatever you need to say can wait until tomorrow. Or

never. I honestly don’t care anymore.

Before stepping into the bathroom, I grabbed my phone and silenced it, placing it face down on my nightstand. Let him wonder where I

was or what I was doing. Let him feel what it’s like to be ignored.

The warm water cascaded over my tired body as I stepped into the

shower. God, it felt good. Like it was washing away not just the day’s

stress but years of emotional baggage. I closed my eyes, letting the

steady stream pound against my shoulders and back.

My mind raced with thoughts about the upcoming dinner with Ethan Lowell. I’d be sitting across from the CEO of North Star Studio. Not just any meetinga personal invitation that could change the entire

trajectory of my career.

I can’t believe this is actually happening tonight,I murmured, working shampoo into my hair. Meeting with Ethan Lowell himself.

I replayed our brief phone conversation from earlier. His voice had been confident yet warm, nothing like Sebastien’s cold, calculated tone. There was something almost familiar about it that I couldn’t

quite place.

What should I even say to him?I wondered aloud, rinsing my hair. I need to be professional but not stiff. Confident but not arrogant.

This dinner wasn’t just about impressing a potential employerit represented something much bigger. A chance to be recognized for my talent alone, not as Sebastien Grey’s soontobe exwife. A fresh start where Megan’s petty power plays wouldn’t follow me.

Chapter 66

This could be the break I’ve been waiting for,I whispered as I turned

off the water. A clean slate. A new beginning for me and the babies.

. I wrapped a towel around myself, my stomach fluttering with a

mixture of excitement and nerves. Don’t screw this up, Iris. This isn’t

just a dinnerit’s potentially the rest of your life.

I reached for my phone while digging through my closet for something comfortable to wear. That’s weird. Rachel doesn’t usually

call this late.

I pressed the answer button and tucked the phone between my ear

and shoulder. Hey, Rachel.

Iris! What the hell are you doing? I’ve been calling for like five minutes!Rachel’s voice came through, loud and slightly frantic.

I couldn’t help but smile at her dramatic tone. Sorry, I was in the

shower. What’s up?

In the shower? At this hour? That’s not like you at all.Her voice immediately turned suspicious. Wait a minuteare you getting ready to go out? Do you have a date or something?

I laughed, pulling a tshirt over my head. No, I was just washing off

the day. It’s beenintense.”
