Chapter 96
“We’re waiting for Mr. Grey to arrive,” the reporter was saying.
“Sources claim the werewolf community is buzzing with news that the
Grey heir has ended his mating bond with Iris Stone.”
I watched, hardly breathing, as Sebastien’s car pulled up. Reporters
swarmed him immediately.
“Mr. Grey! Is it true you’ve filed for divorce?”
Sebastien paused, his face a cold mask. “Yes, we’ve dissolved our
relationship. Now if you’ll excuse me.”
The room spun around me. It was real. It was happening.
“Mom!” Kim’s voice seemed to come from far away. I felt her hands on
my shoulders as I swayed.
“Mom, are you okay? Mom!”
I blinked, trying to focus on her worried face. My phone was buzzing
non–stop with notifications. I glanced down to see the werewolf
forums exploding with confirmation:

“BREAKING: Grey heir confirms end of mating bond with Stone
daughter.”
“It’s over,” I whispered, feeling suddenly weak. “The Grey protection is
gone. The Stone family is finished.”
“Mom, please, you’re scaring me.” Kim was holding me up now.
“He left her,” I said, my voice sounding strange to my own ears.
“Sebastien really left Iris…”
Kim guided me to the sofa as my legs threatened to give way. “Mom,
breathe. We’ll figure something out.”
I laughed, a bitter sound that surprised even me. “I should have
known. Her tone on the phone was so final… and I just thought she
was bluffing.”
“What are we going to do?” Kim asked, her eyes wide with fear.
I stared at her, reality setting in. “An Alpha like Sebastien doesn’t
change his mind. Once he makes a decision, it’s final.” I shook my
head slowly. “There’s no going back.”
Kim’s face crumpled. “So we’re just… done? The whole family is
ruined?”

I was about to agree when my eyes caught sight of a framed photo of Iris on the side table. I’d kept it there mostly for appearances, to
maintain the facade of the caring mother. But now, looking at her beautiful face, her captivating smile, I felt a flicker of something–not affection, but possibility.
“Iris is still valuable,” I said slowly, an idea forming. “Even without
Sebastien.”
“What do you mean?” Kim asked.
I picked up the photo, studying Iris’s features more carefully. “Your
sister is beautiful, talented, and from a bloodline with potential. She
might have lost one advantageous match, but…”
I remembered the way Noah Phillips looked at Iris. How he’d always
hovered nearby, watching her with undisguised longing. His family
wasn’t as powerful as the Greys, of course, but they were stable,
growing in influence. And Noah clearly adored Iris.
“Noah Phillips,” I murmured. “He’s always had feelings for Iris.”
“The tech investor?” Kim frowned. “But he’s just a regular wolf, not
even an Alpha.”
“His company is growing rapidly,” I countered. “And he’s devoted to

Iris. If she accepted his courtship, the Phillips family could offer us
some protection. Not as much as the Greys, but enough to keep the
worst threats at bay.”
I ran my finger over Iris’s face in the photo, my mind calculating each
angle. “We need to convince Iris that Noah is her best option now.
The key is exploiting her position after being ‘publicly discarded‘ by
Sebastien.”
“But you said she wanted the divorce,” Kim pointed out.
