Chapter 95
Catherine’s POV
“She’s done this on purpose! Iris has deliberately ruined us all!”
Thomas snapped, his voice grating on my already frayed nerves.
“No, it’s that Grey boy’s fault! He never respected our family anyway,”
another relative countered.

I watched them bicker back and forth in our living room,
supposed adults of the Stone family, reduced to panicked, squabbling
wolves. My head throbbed as their voices grew louder, more
desperate. What good was all this finger–pointing? These idiots
couldn’t even manage basic pack unity in a crisis.
“What exactly do you all think you’re accomplishing?” I thought
bitterly. “These useless wolves can do nothing but blame each other.
Not one of them capable of actual solutions.”
I couldn’t take it anymore. With deliberate steps, I moved to the
center of the room and raised my voice. “Everyone, be quiet! Now!”
The room fell silent, all eyes turning to me.

“This constant bickering is getting us nowhere,” I said firmly. “We need a real strategy, not this endless blame game. We need to find a
way to get Iris back on our side.”
I felt a small rush of satisfaction as they quieted down, hanging onto
my every word. They were pathetic, but at least they still recognized
who was in charge. I’d been managing this family’s affairs since my husband’s brother died, and I wasn’t about to let it fall apart now.
“Catherine’s right,” Thomas mumbled from his armchair. “Fighting
amongst ourselves solves nothing.”
I barely acknowledged his support. Instead, I paced the floor, mind
racing. “We need to think of what we can offer Iris. Something to
make her reconsider her position and bring Grey protection back to
our family.”
My phone vibrated in my hand. Probably another creditor. We’d been
fielding calls non–stop since the Greys pulled their support. I glanced
down, ready to ignore it, when the notification caught my eye.
It wasn’t a call. It was a social media alert from the private werewolf
community forum: “Grey heir reportedly ends mating bond.”
My heart stopped.

“What is it?” Kim asked, noticing my expression.
I couldn’t answer. My fingers trembled as I tapped the notification,
scanning the post with growing horror. There were blurry photos of
Sebastien and Iris entering and leaving the Moonshade Bay municipal
building. The post claimed they’d gone to the werewolf council
offices inside.
“Oh my God,” I whispered, scrolling frantically through comments.
“Mom? What’s happened?” Kim was at my side now, trying to see my
screen.
I clicked on another discussion thread in the elite werewolf circles
forum:
“Sources confirm Alpha heir Grey has finally had enough of the Stone
girl. He’s filed to dissolve their mating bond. She tried to contest it,
but he was adamant.”
“Apparently she begged him to reconsider–embarrassing display at
the council office.”
“Not surprised. Everyone knew he never wanted her. Poor girl, but
what did she expect?”

I frowned, a flicker of confusion cutting through my panic. This didn’t
match what Iris had told me on the phone. She’d been adamant about
wanting the divorce, even threatened to sever all ties with our family.
“This has to be Grey propaganda,” I thought. “They’re trying to save
face for their precious heir. No Alpha wants to admit his mate left
him.”
But the photos were real enough. They had gone to the council office.
Whatever happened inside, the outcome was clear–their bond was
broken.
“Mom, is this true?” Kim’s voice sounded distant. “They’re actually
getting divorced?”
I couldn’t answer. My mind was racing through the implications. I
didn’t care who left whom–without the Grey alliance, the Stone
family was completely vulnerable. We’d already lost most of our
business connections. Now we’d lose our territory too. Other packs
were already testing our boundaries, and without an Alpha mate in
the family…
“We need confirmation,” I finally managed to say. “These are just
rumors.”
But I knew in my gut it was true. Iris had been pulling away for weeks.

And Sebastien had never seemed invested in their union to begin
with.
I barely slept that night. I kept refreshing the news feeds, waiting for
official confirmation, alternating between denial and panic. By
morning, my eyes were bloodshot, my hands shaky from too much
coffee.
When the morning news showed reporters camped outside Crescent
Design’s offices, I turned up the volume.
