Justice For Juniper (Tatienne Richard) novel Chapter 173

Fallout Part I

Juniper screamed as she noted the blood pooling at Kyst’s shoulder but also as Lois was falling over herself, possibly from some kind of cardiac event.

Security was rushing to pin the woman who’d shot Kyst to

the ground and she was wordless, staring at him with a placid. expression.

“Why?” he asked as he put his hand to his shoulder and dropped to his knees.

“Why did you shoot him?” Carl screamed at the woman.

She looked right at Kyst, “I gave you all of my money. All of it. I lost my house. I maxed out my credit cards too many times and it was all a lie. I thought you loved me and it was all a lie,” the woman shook her head, “you’re evil, Kyst Kennedy and I hope you die.”

“I didn’t force you to give me your money,” Kyst’s voice grew raspy as he was put on the floor by members of the security team who clearly had paramedical training. While some worked on him, another team was working on Lois.

“No. You coerced, not forced,” the woman spoke, clearly denoting her education. “You were as scheming as the who say they are princes online and thev’re really scammers working in a call center. The only difference is the scale of your operation. I don’t care if I go to jail. I’m living out of my car right now. A bed to sleep in sounds like a treat.” She was being subdued by a team who had taken her weapon away, but she seemed like she was at peace with what she’d done. She wasn’t fighting or pushing back. She simply sat with her arms held behind her back, watching medics put pressure to Kyst’s chest. She looked at Juniper. “I feel sorry for you. I only believed his online persona. I can’t imagine what it was like to be fed his particular brand of horseshit on a daily basis and then to find out it was all a lie.”

Juniper watched as the team were tearing Kyst’s jacket and shirt away to reveal the shot, which was on his right side, through his shoulder and from the way he was making sucking sounds, possibly his lung. Her hands reached out for Beni who immediately wrapped his arm around her while Phineas was ordering the security team to get his grandfather somewhere safe and taking charge of the scene. Adil was instructing his own teams who were there to collect evidence and secure video surveillance from people who’d been recording the altercation.

Beni’s arms wrapped around her, and he pressed a kiss to her head, “it’s going to be okay, Juniper.”

“I didn’t want him hurt,” she whispered. “You all promised me there were measures in effect to keep everyone safe.”

“How did she get a gun in here?” Beni demanded angrily as Juniper’s words felt accusatory.

Juniper was staring at the blood which was covering the hands of one of the medics who was working on Kyst. The sound of sirens in the distance seemed to call to her.

“Juniper,” Kyst held a hand towards her as he choked, “please baby. I need you.”

She shook her head and buried her face in Beni’s chest, “I need to get out of here.”

“We can’t,” Beni shook his head. “The police were called and everyone in this room is now a witness to an attempted murder. We’re going to need to stay for statements. On a happier note, Denise is likely going to get arrested tonight too. She’s violating a court order to stay away from Phineas by 4/5. coming here tonight.”

“I hope this time they get thrown into jail and bail is revoked.

“Me too, Sunshine. Me too.”
