“Dad…”
Before Vivica could voice her outrage, Paxton grabbed her arm, his face grim. He shook his head slightly. “That’s enough, Vivica. We’re going home.”
He turned to Kiernan. “Dad, Vivica and I will take our leave.”
“Hmph.”
Once they were gone, Kiernan turned to Larissa and shook his head again, a wry smile on his lips. “Feel better now?”
Larissa shrugged. “I wouldn’t call it catharsis. They came here looking for a fight. I think one kick was more than generous.”
Kiernan sighed. “You, child… you’re all sharp edges. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”
“If you have the strength to back it up, it’s always a good thing,” she replied matter-of-factly.
Her words gave Kiernan pause. It was true. His two sons and grandsons lacked that very combination of ability and boldness. Perhaps this granddaughter of his was exactly what the Judson family needed to grow stronger, to one day even stand on equal footing with titans like the Palmer family.
Mulling this over, Kiernan nodded slowly. “If you truly have the strength, then stay sharp. The future of the Judson family needs someone like you.”
Larissa smiled. “Don’t worry, Grandpa. I won’t disappoint you.”
“Mom, Grandpa has always valued strength and the future of the Judson family above all else,” Larissa explained. “I proved my capabilities at the welcome dinner last night. He won’t let me be pushed around, and he certainly won’t let Paxton’s family do it either. Not unless they can suddenly pull off a major corporate victory to impress him, which is unlikely. So for now, he’s on my side.”
Finley’s last hope rested on securing the adaptation rights for the final novel by the acclaimed author, ‘Field of Lari,’ and turning it into a blockbuster.
But that hope was destined to be crushed.
As for Paxton’s pharmaceutical company, it was stuck in the past, unable to innovate. It was only a matter of time before it ran itself into the ground.
But she, on the other hand, cultivated priceless medicinal herbs and had the backing of the entire research team from Spire Village. Once she made her move, turning around Judson Pharmaceuticals would be child’s play.
