At eight o'clock that evening, Draven arrived at a quiet restaurant in Regal City.
When he reached the private room, he was surprised to find Finley there along with his sister, Honora.
He hadn’t wanted too many people to know about his plan to deal with Larissa, and he was slightly annoyed that Honora had taken it upon herself to bring Finley.
Seeing Draven’s displeased frown, Honora quickly explained, “Draven, I don’t really know how to handle someone like Larissa, so I asked my brother to come talk to you instead.”
To prove her point, Finley pulled a few pages from a folder beside him, laid them on the table, and slid them across. “I have a file on Larissa’s past here,” he said. “I thought you might find it useful.”
Only then did Draven slowly sit down opposite Finley and pick up the documents.
Finley spoke tentatively, “I wouldn’t dare cause a scene at the Palmer family’s engagement party tomorrow, so this information is much more valuable in your hands. Besides, I know you don’t really want Larissa to succeed in healing Haskell’s legs, do you, Draven?”
At his words, Draven looked up at Finley with a guarded expression. “Watch what you say, Finley. Haskell is my older brother. Of course I want his legs to heal. My issue is with Larissa, and Larissa alone.”
Finley didn’t press the point. “This file contains some of Larissa’s lesser-known history. How you use it is up to you, Draven.”
Draven lowered his gaze and began to read. As he flipped through the pages, his initial surprise gave way to deep thought.
Although his father had told him to leave Larissa to the Judson family, the memory of her arrogance earlier that day was galling. And if she really did manage to heal Haskell’s legs, the consequences would be unthinkable.
He had to teach her a lesson she would never forget, and he had to do it himself. Just as Finley had said, tomorrow’s party was on Palmer turf, making it difficult for Finley to act. In that case, he would be the one to bring the axe down.
“I understand,” Draven said, tucking the file away. “I won’t let this information go to waste. I’ll make that woman pay a heavy price.”
At that, Honora chimed in with concern, “Larissa has been insufferably arrogant ever since she returned to the Judson family, but I never imagined she’d be brazen enough to offend you, Draven.”
After hanging up, he didn’t return to the Palmer estate. Instead, he drove to the Dillon family’s residence in Regal City.
The file, aside from detailing Larissa’s unsettling past, had also mentioned a former relationship. Her ex-boyfriend was none other than Torrin Dillon, who had recently been welcomed back into the Dillon family himself.
…
At ten-thirty that night, at the Dillon estate in Regal City.
Torrin, already in his robe, was walking toward the main gate when he saw Draven waiting for him. He frowned. “Who are you? What do you want?”
“I’m Draven Palmer,” Draven introduced himself.
