“Sage,” she said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. It was the aphrodisiac she had made one day out of boredom.
Sage tilted its head and blinked at her, the picture of innocence.
Larissa picked it up and lifted it out of the cabinet. “You’re just a little snake. How is your mind even more messed up than mine?”
Sage flicked its tongue playfully.
“Oh, you’re proud of yourself, are you?” Larissa teased, pretending to pop one of the pills into its mouth. “You want to try this?”
Sage immediately slithered away.
Larissa smiled to herself, rolling the two pills in her palm. It wasn’t as if she and Haskell needed them. Just looking at each other was enough to make them lose control. She put the pills back in the bottle.
Just then, a message from Avril came in, another report on her conversations with Torrin.
Torrin: [Larissa, a beautiful woman asked for my number while I was making a delivery today. I didn’t give it to her. See how loyal I am to you? I bet Haskell wouldn’t be able to say the same.]
Avril: [Torrin, are you for real? One woman hits on you and you’re bragging to me about it? Do you have any idea that dozens of women used to throw themselves at Haskell every single day? And my Haskell rejected every single one of them!]
Torrin: [Dozens a day? No way. I don’t even get that many deliveries! Haskell probably made that up to make himself look good!]
Avril: [Just because you don’t have women lining up for you doesn’t mean he doesn’t. Have you seen my Haskell? With his status, his power, his looks? Dozens a day is an understatement!]
Torrin: [Then you should be even more insecure! With that many women chasing him, how can you be sure he won’t be tempted one day? How do you know you’re his one and only?]
[But I know he cares about you, and I won’t let anyone tarnish his reputation! I have to set the record straight!]
Larissa chuckled and replied:
[Even if Haskell had a past, as long as he wasn’t reckless, I wouldn’t mind. But I know he doesn’t have a history, and I’m sure he’s been a perfect gentleman. Still, that’s a pretty intense vow, betting your own life on it.]
Avril replied quickly.
[I just don’t want you to get the wrong idea! Otherwise, I would have sworn on my ex-boyfriend’s life! Anyway, as long as you trust Haskell, that’s all that matters! But how are you so sure he’s a virgin?]
Larissa: [I can feel his vital energy when I treat him every day. I can tell from his aura.]
