Meanwhile, at the Judson estate.
It was seven o’clock, and the night had grown dark. Larissa stood by her window, looking out at the West Villa across the grounds, her eyes as deep and still as a dark pool. Her three small snakes rested quietly beside her.
The silence was broken by the ringing of her phone. It was Nightveil.
“Boss, your mother is safe. The man who took her is named Gareth, Paxton’s former butler. He said he held a grudge against you for firing him, and Paxton promised him his job back if he kidnapped your mother.”
The culprit confirmed, Larissa’s eyes took on a dangerous glint. “I see.”
“Boss, what should I do with Gareth?”
“Wait for Paxton to call him again. Let’s see what he planned to do to my mother.”
“Understood.”
In the background, Larissa could hear Sapphira’s voice. “Young lady, are you talking to my daughter?”
“Nightveil, give the phone to my mom,” Larissa said softly.
“Yes, Boss.”
A moment later, Sapphira’s voice came through. “Larissa, I’m alright. Your friend got here just in time. How did you know I was in trouble?”
“Mom, after everything I’ve done since coming back, I knew Paxton’s family would hate me,” Larissa explained. “If they couldn’t get to me directly, they would go after the people I care about. So I’ve had someone watching over you secretly.”
“I see,” Sapphira said. “My driver, Dorian, is also supposed to protect me, but I guess he was taken by surprise.”
She turned and asked Gareth, “What did you do to Dorian?”
Gareth whimpered, “Madam, your driver was just knocked out. He’s not hurt.”
She then sent a message to Avril.
[There’s going to be a big show at the Judson estate tomorrow. Want to come?]
Avril replied almost instantly.
[Yes! Yes! Yes!]
Larissa: [You can invite anyone you know. The more, the merrier.]
Avril: [Really? Don’t worry, Larissa, I know everyone! It’ll be a full house tomorrow!]
Putting down her phone, Larissa looked out the window again, her gaze heavy with determination. Tomorrow, she would strip Paxton and his family of their reputation and their wealth, leaving them with nothing.
This was the main reason she had returned to the Judson family in the first place.
