“Maybe,” another person countered, “but it’s better than staying here and waiting for the company to go bankrupt. At least over there, we can get a nice payout. And if we perform well, maybe they’ll keep us on.”
“Well, I’ve made up my mind. I’m leaving,” the first speaker declared. “That speech our new CEO gave this morning was full of empty promises. I don’t believe she has what it takes. You all can do what you want.”
The others fell silent again.
“Ms. Judson, what are you doing standing here?”
It was Ursa, the secretary.
A wave of panic washed over the employees. They quickly turned back to their computers, feigning work. Had she heard everything?
But then, those who had already decided to leave had another thought. So what if she heard? They were leaving anyway.
Larissa smiled. “Oh, nothing. Just eavesdropping.”
Ursa blinked. “Ah.”
Larissa pushed the door open and surveyed the office. “Anyone who wants to resign can submit their application to Ursa today.”
Without another word, she walked to her office.
Ursa noticed the uneasy expressions on many of the employees’ faces. “You’re all thinking of resigning?”
No one answered.
Back in her office, Larissa looked up Gale Entertainment.
It was indeed a well-established company in Regal City. More importantly, the chairman’s daughter, Livia Tyson, was Lucius’s fiancée and one of the hottest young actresses in the industry. Coming from a wealthy family, she acted purely for pleasure, and her natural, unburdened performances had earned her widespread praise from the media for her “authenticity,” “spirit,” and “lack of an idol’s baggage.”
The Tyson family, like the Judson family, was a second-tier elite family. The fact that Livia was marrying into the top-tier Lincoln family was, according to her fans, a testament to her immense personal charm, which had captured the heart of the great Mr. Lincoln.
Like Honora, Livia had also been a contender for the title of “Regal City’s Most Talented Belle,” though she had ultimately lost to Honora in the final vote, earning her the title of runner-up.
Larissa smiled. She could already guess the Lincoln family’s next move.
Soon, rumors would start spreading online that Livia had been personally chosen by Field of Lari to play Ysabel, the female lead in “Heaven’s Will”. And as a result, Gale Entertainment’s stock would soar.
