The trash-talkers in the group chat fell silent.
The audacity. This Larissa was unbelievably arrogant! You could feel the sheer nerve radiating through the screen.
Avril, ever the instigator, jumped in enthusiastically.
Avril's Joy: [Yes! Now this is interesting! I'll be the bookie! Who dares to bet against my girl Larissa?]
An eerie silence descended upon the chat.
Larissa: [?]
Larissa: [What happened? Cat got your tongue?]
Larissa: [You guys are no fun. I thought you had some guts. I get being afraid of the Lincolns, but are you really scared of a girl from the countryside too?]
The taunt was perfectly crafted, a direct challenge to their pride.
[Who's scared? You're on!]
Prodigal Prince, the one who started it all, finally responded.
[I refuse to believe you have what it takes to go up against Mr. Lincoln!]
Larissa: [Good. Is there only one of you with a spine? Where did the rest of the loudmouths go?]
The others continued to play dead.
Larissa: [Don't you want me to call you Dad and lick your shoes?]
Larissa: [Forget it. How boring. A bunch of cowards.]
The others: ...
How could she be so brazen? Did Haskell give her this confidence? If it weren't for the whole "being walked on a leash like a dog" thing, they definitely would have taken the bet.
Prodigal Prince: [Larissa, I'm in! I bet Starlight Media will be crushed by Mr. Lincoln within two months!]
"Of course," the assistant confirmed. "Consider it a bonus from Mr. Lincoln for your loyalty."
"Thank you, Mr. Lincoln! I can't wait to see just how slutty that bitch's body is to have that cripple Haskell so obsessed."
The circle of young men around Lucius erupted in lewd laughter.
Livia, who had been summoned by Lucius to make amends, felt a wave of nausea at their vile words. She couldn't help but let out a soft retch.
The sound caught Lucius's attention.
Milton smirked knowingly. "Could it be that you're pregnant, Livia?"
Livia suppressed her disgust for Milton and said nothing. This was Lucius's territory, and she knew better than to provoke him.
Lucius slowly turned his gaze to her, his eyes sharp as daggers.
"Tell me," he said, his voice low and menacing, as if it could pierce through her very soul. "Where did you take Honora?"
