The livestream chat was going wild.
[LOL, Mr. Lincoln’s face! Haskell is totally twisting the knife!]
[That’s our golden boy! Who else would dare to troll Mr. Lincoln to his face like that?]
[Okay, I kind of ship it. Is that wrong?]
[Don’t be gross, they’re both engaged!]
[Seriously, if you ship everything, you’ll end up in a coffin!]
Lucius, aware of the speculative glances being thrown his way, finally spoke, his voice tight with irritation. “Mr. Palmer, this is a public event. Don’t say things that could be misinterpreted.”
“My apologies,” Haskell said, his smile unwavering. “I thought you had a fondness for Draven. My mistake. But in the future, if you wish to meet with someone from the Palmer family, just let me know. There’s no need to be sneaky about it.”
Lucius was speechless. He hated the way Haskell could deliver a devastating blow with a gentle smile. The man was infuriatingly good at getting under his skin.
[Wow, that was a subtle jab. ‘Sneaky.’ Is Mr. Lincoln into some kinky stuff?]
[It’s clear who’s winning this war of words. Mr. Lincoln can’t keep up.]
[Haskell is known for being a smiling assassin. He kills you with kindness.]
Unable to take any more, Lucius’s gaze dropped to Haskell’s legs. “I was just concerned, Mr. Palmer,” he said, his voice dripping with mock sympathy. “With your… condition, I didn’t want to bother you.”
[Damn! Haskell looks so refined, but his words are brutal!]
[And he’s so calm! You can’t even tell he’s angry!]
[If you just looked at his face, you’d think he was just catching up with an old friend!]
Lucius took a deep breath. “Haskell, whether or not your legs heal depends on Larissa’s treatment.” He paused, then lowered his voice, his tone menacing. “And I’m afraid she might not get the chance to finish it.”
In an instant, Haskell’s smile vanished, replaced by a look of pure, unadulterated fury.
“You are not powerful enough to threaten her,” he said, his voice a low growl.
