And Sage’s job was to be cute.
Larissa finished drying her hair and picked up her phone. She saw another text from an unknown number.
[Larissa, if you block my number again, you will lose your chance to be my woman forever! This Saturday, I’m attending the welcome party for the newly returned heiress of the Judson family. You’ve probably never been to such a grand event, have you? If you still want to be my woman, come find me. I’ll pick you up at the Regal City train station and you can be my personal assistant. Remember, this is your last chance!]
Larissa was filled with a profound sense of self-loathing. Why had she saved Torrin Dillon’s life? She should have just let him rot on the side of the road. And the most humiliating part? She had actually thought he was a decent guy and dated him for two months!
It would forever be the darkest chapter of her life.
But what a coincidence. This idiot was invited to her welcome party? She wondered what his face would look like when he found out she was the Judson family’s long-lost heiress.
This time, instead of calling him an idiot and blocking him, she replied:
[Okay, see you at the train station tomorrow at noon!]
Let him wait. She would make sure he waited until he died of old age.
She leaned back against the headboard, but a news alert popped up on her screen.
[Exposed! Secret Rumor! Regal City Heir Infertile?!]
What?
She had no interest in such gossip and tried to swipe it away, but she accidentally tapped on it. As she was about to exit, she realized the article was about Haskell.
She forwarded the link to him.
A moment later, he replied: ?
Haskell smiled when he saw her message. She really was decisive. She had only been back with the Judson family for a few days and had already cut ties with her biological parents.
What was he hesitating for? Since Draven and Valeria had betrayed him, he would just have to eliminate them both.
[You cut ties with them, and Paxton didn’t kick you out?] he texted.
She replied quickly.
[I immediately got Neville and Sapphira to adopt me. They’re so wonderful! I don’t care what anyone says. They are my real parents now!]
Haskell chuckled at her message.
[You’re right. Not all biological parents genuinely love their children. It’s the same on my end. I can sense that my father doesn’t particularly like me, especially after Draven came back. He pays far more attention to Draven than to me. I never used to mind. My brother suffered so much out there, it’s only natural for our father to want to make it up to him. I just never thought my own brother would want me dead.]
