Finley nodded eagerly. “Okay!”
After dinner, Neville, unwilling to spend another minute with Paxton’s family, stood up. “Dad, you must be exhausted after your long flight. You should get some rest. Sapphira, Larissa, and I will be heading back now.”
Kiernan nodded. “Alright.”
As Larissa stood, Finley rose with her. He couldn’t wait to get the antidote and finally have a night free from the poison’s torment.
Leopold, also wanting to spend more time with his sister, stood as well. “Finley, I’ll go with you to get the antidote.”
Larissa sneered. “What for? To help Finley verify if it’s real?”
“No, that’s not it…” Leopold explained quickly. “I just wanted to see you more…”
Larissa pretended to rub her arms. “You’re making my skin crawl.”
Leopold’s face went pale, and he was rendered speechless.
Ignoring them, Larissa linked her arm through her mother’s and was about to leave with her parents when Paxton spoke up, his tone sincere. “Dad, Vivica and I were hoping to take a look around the west wing villa. Would that be alright?”
Kiernan replied, “Why are you asking me? I don’t have the keys anymore.”
Larissa paused and turned back, a cold smile on her face. “The keys are with me, but I have no intention of giving them to you. Since you were thrown out, you’re not allowed to live there anymore. Why bother torturing yourselves by looking at what you can’t have?”
At the words “not allowed to live there anymore,” Paxton’s expression soured.
Larissa’s face lit up. She squeezed Sapphira’s arm and smiled sweetly. “Mom, I don’t even need to see it to know I’ll love it! After all, you’re the one who designed it for me!”
Sapphira beamed, delighted by her daughter’s words. She gently stroked Larissa’s hair. “Don’t just say you like it. Take a look first. If there’s anything you want changed, just let me know, and I’ll adjust it for you.”
“I know,” Larissa replied obediently. “But I really do think that with your taste, the gown will be absolutely stunning!”
Neville, standing beside them, chimed in, “You’re right, Larissa. I got a sneak peek, and the gown your mother designed for you is truly beautiful. And it’s one of a kind!”
Larissa’s eyes sparkled. “Oh, that’s right! It’s completely unique. That means I won’t have to worry about showing up in the same dress as someone else, or being accused of wearing a knockoff.”
Hearing this from a few paces behind, Leopold stopped dead in his tracks.
