Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 691

“Excellent! With you on the case, Mr. Lincoln, I can finally breathe easy,” Damon flattered him.

If they didn’t crush this Larissa soon, Damon was afraid he’d be dragged down with the rest of them. The whole affair had left him with a healthy fear of her. The woman’s methods were anything but simple.

He was a hundred percent certain that Larissa was the one who had orchestrated the death of Theon, that little bastard, yet she had managed to wash her hands of it completely. She’d even cornered Lucius into personally intervening to close the car accident case as quickly as possible.

Just then, the door opened and Milton walked in, carrying Honora in his arms.

“Mr. Lincoln.”

His gaze shifted, landing on Damon sitting off to the side. Recalling the recent headlines about Theon, he said, “Damon, you’re here too. About your son… my condolences.”

Damon’s face darkened, but he remained silent. He couldn’t exactly go around announcing to the world that Theon wasn’t his biological son.

Seeing that Damon was ignoring him, Milton turned back to Lucius with a respectful air. “Mr. Lincoln, aren’t that bitch Larissa’s songs supposed to drop at midnight tonight?”

Lucius didn’t answer.

It was Damon, silent until now, who spoke in a flat voice. “Yes. Leopold’s new songs will be released at the exact same time. The only difference is, Leopold’s will be on every major music platform, while Larissa’s is exclusive to Ruby Rhythm.”

“Hah. She’s already lost the first round just on prestige alone,” Milton scoffed, finding a seat for himself while still holding Honora. “I can’t wait to see if these new songs of hers are as great as she claims.”

Honora poured Milton a drink, her voice soft. “Leopold’s musical talent is second to none in the industry right now. There’s no way Larissa is better than him.”

...

“After midnight, you’ll be twenty-two,” Haskell said playfully through the video call. His smile was as bright as the sun, warming Larissa’s heart through the screen.

She gazed at the handsome man, who was dressed in a light gray robe that accentuated his tall, elegant figure. The faint, charming smile on his lips was utterly captivating.

“Your first birthday since returning to the Judson family,” Haskell’s voice came again, tinged with curiosity. “Does it feel any different so far?”

Larissa thought for a moment, then teased back, “Oh, definitely. I’ve learned that high society is obsessed with ceremony. They can turn anything into a massive banquet and blow a fortune on it.”

“Just think of it as them having more money than they know what to do with,” Haskell quipped. “When you’re that rich, you’re always looking for an excuse to flaunt it.”
