Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 757

Larissa stood with her arms crossed, casually watching Paxton kneel in the snow and loudly proclaim how Lucius had coerced him.

Her goal in bringing him here was twofold: first, to disrupt the Lincoln family’s peace, and second, to use public opinion to ensure the case couldn’t be easily swept under the rug. Whether the hitman ultimately confessed or not, Lucius would not be able to completely escape blame.

And Paxton was so cooperative only because he knew he was doomed either way and was determined to drag everyone else down with him.

Including Larissa!

After all, making a scene at the Lincoln estate would only make them hate her more.

Avril held up her phone, watching the viewer count on the live stream skyrocket. Larissa’s influence was incredible. The moment people heard she was live, the numbers shot up.

[Host, is this murder-for-hire story real?]

Avril replied, “It’s real. It happened last night. The hitman has been caught.”

[Can we see the hitman?]

Avril replied, “Sorry, can’t do that. He’ll be handed over to the police soon.”

[This guy is an animal, hiring someone to kill his own wife over an inheritance!]

[Host, is the news about Neverending Night true?]

Avril replied, “Absolutely!”

[The Lincoln family is having a rough time lately!]

[Don’t you guys know? The Lincolns started out as a crime family. They’ve just been trying to clean up their image!]

[If this Paxton guy is telling the truth, and Lucius hired the hitman, who knows how many people the Lincolns have on their conscience!]

Larissa chuckled. “Oh, so the Lincoln family cares about evidence now? Well, I don’t know. The hitman says Paxton hired him, but Paxton insists it was you. I just brought him here so you two could sort it out face-to-face.”

Lucius gritted his teeth. “Sort it out? Without evidence, you’re just dragging my family’s name through the mud! Don’t think I won’t sue you!”

“What? Mud?” Larissa turned to Avril’s phone camera. “Mr. Lincoln says I’m dragging his family’s name through the mud. That’s hilarious! Do you all think the Lincoln family needs any help getting dirty?”

The live stream chat exploded:

[Is the Lincoln family not dirty enough already? Any mud you throw would probably look clean on them!]

[You’re so dirty you’ve blinded the public! You organized that fifty-person orgy at Neverending Night!]

[Wait, guys! There’s a plot twist! The guests are saying they were victims, that Neverending Night drugged them! They’re all getting lawyers to sue the Lincoln family!]

[Oh snap! The Lincolns are really done for this time! No matter how powerful they are, they can’t just walk away from a class-action lawsuit like this!]
