“Grandma! Lucius!” he greeted them with a wide grin. “I’m back!”
The sound of his voice melted Helena’s heart. The icy mask on her face vanished, replaced by a warm, affectionate smile. “Fergus, come here. Let Grandma get a good look at you.”
Fergus obediently went to her, letting her stroke his hair as he said sweetly, “Grandma, I missed you so much while I was away.”
“I missed you too,” she replied, her eyes full of love.
“By the way… Lucius, I heard the family’s in a bit of trouble lately?” He turned to his cousin with a look of feigned concern. “Do you need my help with anything?”
Lucius forced a smile. “No, it’s fine. You just got back. You should focus on resting.”
Fergus didn’t look convinced. He glanced at Helena. “Grandma, are you sure there’s nothing I can do?”
The words Helena had planned to say caught in her throat. Instead, she said, “It’s nothing, dear. It’s just been so long, and now that you’re home, I can’t help but want to see more of you.”
Fergus beamed. “Don’t worry, Grandma. I’m back for good this time. I’m done with studying abroad. From now on, I’ll be working with Lucius.”
He then added curiously, “Grandma, I miss my mom, too… but since she betrayed Dad, I can’t forgive her, no matter how much I miss her.”
Helena’s expression didn’t change. “You’re a good boy. If you truly miss your mother, I can allow her to come back and see you.”
“No, that’s okay, Grandma. I’m a grown man now, not a little boy who can’t be away from his mother,” Fergus insisted. “Grandma, I’ve graduated. When are you going to arrange for me to start learning the business from Lucius?”
“Alright. I’ll arrange for you to start training with your cousin soon.” Helena looked at Lucius, her tone serious. “Lucius, did you hear me?”
Helena closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. “Good. Lucius, this time, can I trust you?”
Lucius knelt again, bowing his head three times in a gesture of solemn resolve. “I will not disappoint you, Grandma.”

At the police station, Larissa handed Paxton over to the officers, gave a brief statement, and left after her deposition was taken. With the case under such intense public scrutiny online, she was confident the police wouldn't dare to simply brush it aside.
“Larissa, I heard what you said to Lucius. What’s your next move?” Avril sidled up to her, whispering. “From the way he was acting, the person behind the Lincoln family sounds like bad news.”
Larissa’s gaze was as sharp as a blade. “The Lincolns think their benefactor can save them. Hah. I’m about to show them what a real monster looks like.”
