Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 769

Crispin shot Garrick a look as he wheeled Haskell into the hall.

A faint smile touched Haskell’s lips. “If my legs were perfectly fine right now, would you still dare to speak to me like that?”

Garrick straightened up, trying to sound brave. “Of course I would!”

But his voice lacked conviction. When Haskell had been at the height of his power, Garrick would never have dared to speak to him with such thinly veiled contempt. He knew that if Haskell took full control of the Palmer family, even the renewable energy division his father and older brother Fraser managed would be at risk. But ever since the accident, Garrick had written Haskell off as a cripple, clearing the path for Fraser to claim the inheritance.

Haskell saw right through him, his smile turning mocking. “Oh, really? Well then, I look forward to seeing if you’re still so bold next month, when I’m walking again.”

Fraser studied Haskell’s face, seeing no hint of a bluff. If Haskell was telling the truth, his window of opportunity was closing fast. Once Haskell’s legs healed, Zoltan would never give the inheritance to anyone else.

Garrick quickly changed the subject. “Grandpa, I heard that at Larissa’s birthday party, Haskell gave her a prenuptial agreement. Something about him losing everything if he ever betrayed her. Grandpa, how can you tolerate that?”

“If Haskell becomes the heir, all Larissa has to do is play a few tricks, and our entire family fortune will fall into her hands! The Palmer family will have a new owner!”

Zoltan sipped his coffee, saying nothing.

Fraser interjected smoothly, “Garrick, don’t be so dramatic. Larissa and Haskell are deeply in love. She would never do such a thing. You’re overthinking it.”

Garrick reluctantly shut his mouth.

Fraser smiled. “Actually, we came today mainly to congratulate Haskell. The crisis at Neverending Night has cost the Lincoln family dearly, and all their businesses have been affected. Even Helena took the fall. This is truly great news for the Palmer family.

So, Garrick was wrong earlier. It’s not that Larissa has designs on Haskell. It’s clear that Haskell marrying Larissa is what’s truly beneficial.”

Haskell smiled. “You hear that, Garrick? You should learn the art of conversation from your brother.”
