Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 835

Rigby hesitated before answering. "Mr. Palmer," he said quietly.

Haskell's warm voice came through the phone. "Is there anything you need?"

Rigby glanced around the room, filled with expensive gifts.

"I don't need anything," he replied with a wry smile. "I haven't even used most of the things you've sent." He paused, then asked softly, "Mr. Palmer, were you this good to the fake brother before?"

"To be honest," Haskell answered candidly, "I was a hundred times better to him than I am to you. What you have now is just a fraction of what I gave him. But you've been hesitant to accept more, and I don't want to pressure you."

Rigby fell silent, then asked another question. "It must have been devastating to be betrayed by him, to the point of being crippled. Aren't you afraid that if you're this good to me, I'll betray you one day and hurt you just as badly? We may be brothers by blood, but we don't know each other. You don't have to try to make up for the past. You weren't the one who wronged me."

Haskell let out a soft laugh. "I don't regret being good to the fake Draven. At the time, I believed he was my real brother. There's nothing to regret about wholeheartedly loving your own brother."

Haskell's words intensified Rigby's inner turmoil. Haskell was a good brother, but he was not a good one in return. If Sire went after Zoltan, Haskell would undoubtedly be implicated, regardless of the outcome. Haskell had shown him so much kindness, and in return, he was about to drag him into a mess.

"Was there anything else you called for?" Rigby asked abruptly, unable to face the conversation any longer.

"No, that's all. Call me if you need anything."

"Okay, then. I have to get back to my script." Rigby hung up without waiting for a reply.

[I spent the whole day yelling at Torrin for you! Don't worry, if he ever bothers Larissa again, I'll compile all his dirty laundry and post it online! He'll be socially executed!]

Haskell wrote: [You don't need to stay in contact with Torrin for my sake or Larissa's. It's a waste of your time.]

Avril's response came quickly: [It's fine! I'm not busy right now, so it's no trouble. He's kind of entertaining!]

Haskell: [As long as you're having fun.]

After replying, he placed a video call to Larissa. She answered almost immediately. Her hair was down, still damp from a recent shower, and she was leaning casually against her headboard, bathed in the warm glow of a lamp.
