Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 865

“And as for you being paid to come here tonight and cause a disturbance, I will not let this go. I will pursue full legal action against you!”

Larissa's voice was cold and firm, sending a chill down the spines of the middle-aged man and his parents. Their legs began to tremble.

However, the old woman seemed more composed than her son and husband. She steadied herself and glared at Larissa. “You little brat, don’t you spout nonsense! We weren’t paid by anyone! Don’t you dare try to turn this back on us!”

Just then, someone in the crowd shouted, “It’s all over the internet! This family is a bunch of scumbags!”

Another voice quickly added, “I saw it too! They despised the wife for having two daughters. She got pregnant twice after that, but they forced her to have abortions both times because the tests showed they were girls!”

These words hit the family like a thunderclap, and their faces instantly turned as white as sheets.

Everyone in the livestream heard it too.

[What the hell! We’re in the 21st century, how can families like this still exist? Still obsessed with having a son!]

[It’s not like they have a throne to pass down! What are they trying to inherit, their pots and pans?]

[I thought it was strange from the beginning that only her husband's family was here. Where were her parents? Turns out she was an orphan!]

[Unbelievable. This family already got a settlement from the hospital and now they’re here trying to squeeze more money out of this tragedy!]

[The two daughters are the ones I feel sorry for!]

Avril held the girls’ hands tightly and said sharply, “These are your granddaughters, aren’t they? Look at the state you’ve kept them in!”

The reporters swiveled their cameras toward the children.

One girl looked about seven or eight, the other maybe eleven or twelve. Both were painfully thin, looking as if a strong gust of wind could knock them over. In stark contrast, their father was obese, a ball of excess flesh, and even his elderly parents looked healthier and more robust than the two little girls.

Meeting the fierce glares of the man and his parents, the girls flinched with fear, hiding behind Avril and clutching at her clothes.

Avril looked at Larissa, her voice firm with newfound purpose. “I was never sure what I wanted to do with my life—be a teacher at my family’s school, or maybe an influencer. But thanks to you, Larissa, I’ve figured it out. I’m going to partner with you to start a charity school, specifically for children in need, just like these two.”
